STOP!!! Don't get rid of all those old books in that donate pile. It's time to pull out all of my scrap papers, adhesives and get BUSY. I can't wait for part 2😊 I'm so glad I found your channel. More to add to the 'Reduce, reuse, and recycle' piles Thanks for the inspiration
Lilian thank you for this video!!! You provided me the easiest to understand and the simplest explanation on altering a book😃😃😃. I’m brand new to creating journals and I tried making my first one from scratch. It stressed ne out! I’ve watched this video at least 3 times. During this last watch I followed along and removed the pages from my first book. It was relaxing!!!!!im looking forward to adding decor and journaling pages! Again. THANK YOU ❤
Hi Lily, I just ordered TuCasaDePapel Feliz... and the other papers. Was so happy to download them but when I went to download the Feliz Navidad it was going to cost me $55 to get it on Zip. Is there another way to get those beautiful papers? I did already pay for them. Thank you!
Hi, thank you! That's odd...a zip file is a compressed file and the software is usually free as far as I know. Do me a favor and message Ibette on her @TuCasaDePapel Etsy shop...I'm sure she'll be able to help figure this out. Thank you!
Just found your channel and subscribed! Loved your video! I will be watching for part 2. You have inspired me to make my own junk journal so off I go to gather my supplies. Thank you for sharing! 📚📎🎄♥
Thank you. Yes, I did large top pockets and side pockets in my recent FALL altered book journal. I also have another video coming next week showing how to create pockets plus more book page ideas. So fun!!
That is exactly what I’ve been searching for. I am planning to make an altered book junk journal and was so afraid to do it wrong. You are a wonderful instructor! I plan to refer back to these videos and follow step by step. Thanks so much for sharing!!!❤
I've many videos on how I make different journals and I make plenty using different materials. Please visit my RU-vid channel home page for all my videos.. Thank you for being here and watching my videos.
Hello Lily! I was happy to see your take on an altered journal. Have seen where some people take out as many as 12 pages @ a time. How do you decide on how many pages to take out? Is there a special rule of thumb you go by? Except for Ophelia, am having a good time on vacay!
Wishing you a safe vacation! Removing the number of book pages all depends on how many journal pages you want in the end. No real science to it. I chose to remove six book pages and I've stuck with that for a few years now. I end up with a good amount of pages at the end. Thank you for asking. 😊
Yes, it's the best way to quickly make a beautiful journal. I'll have another video soon with great page techniques, too! 🥰😍 Thank you for being here and watching my video 😘
Are you Nicole Guerrero’s sister? If not you sure look a lot alike. I just went to her YT channel and she spells her last name different then you do yours. But wow you two could be sisters.
I so much enjoy watching your videos. I like how you expain everything you are doing and what supplies work for you. I have yet to alter a book but maybe this is my year. I will be watching your part 2 for sure. Have a wonderful rest of your week or weekend.
Thank you so much for this super easy tutorial! I have a bunch of books that I've been wanting to alter but I've been too nervous to start. Can you explain why you remove 6 pages? Is more or less a big deal?
Great question! I completely spaced explaining the reason behind that.🤭 It is personal preference. The more book pages I remove the less journal pages I will have...the less book pages I remove will result in more journal pages. Removing six pages was like the middle ground for me. It leaves me with the perfect amount of journal pages to work with. I could really take out eight pages since my journals turn into alligator mouth after all the embellishments. But I've stuck with 6 for now. Hope this is helpful. Thank you for asking!! 🤗
I really enjoyed watching your process. I love altered books and don't have a problem at all with altering them. I am going to use your code and follow along and make this journal. Thank you so much for sharing.
Beautiful books I the making. Fabri-Tac is acetone not alcohol base. If you need to dilute it with acetone if it gets too thick over time. Looking forward to seeing what you do with this journal.
Thank you for sharing. I tried to wing it altering a book a couple years ago. It didn’t come out well and I gave up. Now I think it will be easy to try again!
I wonder why you can’t find a plain writing journal to do this in. You are destroying a novel that someone put their heart and soul into while writing. PLEASE, please in the future do not destroy a novel to do this. We are entering a time when it will not be long that the freedom to read what we choose will be taken away from us. I really am not trying to be mean. I am an artist and what you do really does appeal to me. I just would not destroy a good book to do this when there are options. I hope you allow this to post and be read by others. Plus, an option is to use typing paper and make your own book covers. The results are the/would be the same.
I understand your viewpoint however, I typically use old, damaged and or discarded books. I did purchase a few inexpensive books to alter, too. Reading is my jam and I love books for reading and for art. Cheryl, I appreciate your thoughts and will not block your comment. Your point is a valid one and I respect that. Thank you for being here.
Hi, thank you so much! It is HP Premium 30. If you like,, I have more information on my Amazon Affiliate link in the description. Thank you for being here and watching my video. 😇
If I don’t want an alligator mouth, should I just take out more papers I’m a section at once and then still glue the outside pages together? Thank you!
Hi Lily! This is a fantastic video and tutorial! You make it so fun, exciting, and do-able. What type of paper do you use for your printables? I don't have a good working printer right now, so I am wondering how thin or thick of cardstock, scrapbooking, or printed journal paper would be the best and most comparable to what you print your digital printables on? I have also been rolling around the idea of trying to make a journal or three 😊containing my all time favorite Christmas cards from the past that I have received and love. I keep all of my Chrismas cards that people send me every year. I don't want to lose the personal notes or signatures of the sender that are inside of the cards either. Do you have any thoughts, ideas, or videos on how I might go about that? This video definitely has my wheels turning and thinking that using a book like this might be just the ticket since most cards are this size or smaller. I'd really love and appreciate your input! Thank you so much for sharing your extraordinary talent and creativity! Have a blessed evening!
Hello! Thank you for being here and watching my video. I use HP Premium 32 copy paper. It is soo satiny smooth! 🥰😍 I've an Amazon Affiliate link in the description area if you'd like to go see it. My Christmas journals include the Christmas cards I receive. I will place them in the pockets or tuck spots of the journal. They're a fun keepsake. I've also used Christmas cards as toppers to the journals. Have fun creating your own!
@@LilianGuerrero You're so welcome! I am learning so much from you. Thank you so much for the information! What a great idea to place received Christmas cards in the pockets, tuck spots, or as toppers. Whenever I get a better printer, I will definitely check out the copy paper you use.
You make this process look so simple! I have issues with Fabri-Tac not flowing out of the bottle in spite of adding acetone to it. Do you have any pointers? I can’t wait for part two. 🌿🌹🌿❤️🌿🌹🌿
Thank you. Give it a go. I've noticed that the Fabri-Tac only flows like molasses when it's nearly finished but a full bottle flows great. Part 2 is out now and was published a couple days ago. :)
20k subscribers by end of year here we come! I love love love this tutorial. I am sharing it with EVERYONE in my hispanic art loving junk journal community. Such a simple tutorial that I want to grab a few books NOW and alter them into xmas journals, personal notebooks, planners, budgeting planners, meal planners, one alter book for each part of my life because its so quick and fun to create one! LOVE THIS LILY! A simple idea that u can pair with different digital kit themes. The Feliz Navidad kit looked so adorable. I especially loved the floral pattern that u used for the front and back inner cover. CUTE 🎄🎄🎄 I am ready for part 2 ✨
That's awesome! I make book page ephemera. I've a video to show you how to right here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3eW3SogH8Ak.html Plus if you watch my latest Bee Flip Through altered book you can see how I use them in the journal.
Well as always you know my saying ( you go girl) lol! I absolutely love 💕 your videos . Why ? You take the time to explain step by step . I truly believe you want your viewers to create something they are proud of & will share with others. Nothing is anymore satisfying Than be able to say I did that !😊 Thank you for sharing with the rest of us . Have a great week 🦋🦋🦋
I have not seen a book altered this way before. They have always taken out all of the pages. I think l like this way better because you don't have all of those book pages to use up. Plus I think your pages will be sturdier. Thanks so much for sharing this with us and looking forward to part two!❤❤
Coucou Lili..mais que oui , qu'on adore votre recyclage de livre...une super idée.. il va être magnifique fini. Vos créations me plait toujours. ainsi que votre rayonnant sourire. Merci lili. Christiane, de France.🥰
