You did an awesome job man, really! Well done

Thanks, Frankie. I didn't make the repair all on my own; I had a contractor friend helping and showing me the right things to do. It's been almost 2 years, and the repair is perfect, and you can't tell there was a 4-foot-deep hole there. Thanks for watching and leaving a nice comment.

Glad my video was helpful. I made it after I couldn't find a video that explains how to do it for my own project. I called my friend who was a contractor to help. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

Steff, I'm glad you liked the video. I made it since I couldn't find a video that shows how to fill a hole in a concrete slab. I will credit my friend Chris who helped; he was a contractor. Thanks for leaving a comment and watching!

Great video! I have a smaller hole, maybe a foot at the deepest and 2ft around. It has a pipe coming up from it that is meant to be a shower drain. Is there anything you would do different because of that pipe?

The beginning pictures don’t look like the same location as the end.

Did you wrap or cover the repaired pipe in any way before filling in the hole?
@DIYXplorer
@DIYXplorer 2 года назад
The replacement of the pipe was done by a professional plumber. It was a main sewer line and 4 feet down which I believe is below the frost line in TN. The original pipe was not wrapped. Thanks for watching and commenting! Let me know if I can answer any other questions!

Thanks! I hope it helped! I created the video after I couldn't find a straight forward video how to fix a hole in a foundation slab. :-) Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

How long did you wait for concrete to cure before laying the laminate?
@DIYXplorer
@DIYXplorer 2 года назад
We waiting about 5 days between the final pouring and laying down the laminate. That might have been overkill but we wanted to make sure it was good and dry before we covered it up. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

I am repairing a 6 inch by 96 hole and was told to wait 28 days before laying my floor. Why so long? Do you think that’s necessary

How would you repair a concrete slab with a hole that's 5 ft deep and the opening is a foot wide
@DIYXplorer
@DIYXplorer Год назад
Something like that I would say the same way. The hole we filled was 4 feet deep and we filled it with dirt and other types of fill until we got to the point of putting the concrete down. If you are unsure I’d consult a professional to get more precise advice. I had friend who is a professional assist me for my project. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

I did a small repair like you and I didn’t do a vapor barrier like you. Do you think we will be ok?

Hi! I'm not a professional; the person helping me was one. He recommended that I put down a vapor barrier. I'd keep an eye on it. Sorry, I'm not much help on that topic. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

Hi Cassie, sorry for the delayed reply. I'm not sure if any wax is better than another. I used a small can of Minwax Finishing Paste for furniture. - amzn.to/4bLqbDH

Shucks brother. Did that ever dip on you? You forgot to dowel into the existing concrete... I learned this today on youtube... Wish you all the best. Thanks for the video but I hope people didnt do what you did...
@DIYXplorer
@DIYXplorer 2 года назад
Hey Steve! It's been about a year now and still solid and level, no dipping. The guy I was working with had contractor experience and determined doweling wasn't necessary for the hole size and thickness of the concrete we were pouring. Leave a link to the video I'd love to see how they did it. Thanks for commenting and watching!

you forgot put the metal bar and before put the cement you need put the plastic. i m sorry bro you did the job totally wrong
@DIYXplorer
@DIYXplorer 2 года назад
Hi, Andreas, had another viewer leave a similar comment. The person that was helping me was a contractor. He determined the size of the hole did not need metal bars. I'm not sure what you mean by plastic, we did put down a vapor barrier before the laminate. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! For others else watching there are multiple ways to do this type of repair and if you are not sure please consult a professional.

I think the plastic (vapour barrier) should be the first thing you need to put down so that the concrete doesn't absorb any moisture from the ground. (PS. I'm only a diy enthusiast, not a real builder)

He did mean you needed a vapor barrier between dirt and the new concrete. I noticed that too...also seemed like an excess of work/layers. Just fill the hole, stamp it down, place new vapor barrier...then just pour concrete. The bucket was small, I get it. But it's worth noting renting an electric mixer will save you a lot of time and effort! It did look great though! There is more than one way to skin a cat! I'm just not sure why your contractor advisor didn't care about the vapor barrier. It could be because of the amount of extras. All the unnecessary primers/levelers perhaps keep the water out.
