Some sports production can consist of 20, 30 or even as many as 80 players on each team. How do you sort through that much information to get exactly what you need? Being able to get the data you want , to display in you production graphics, in a timely manner is a must! Today I demonstrate a couple techniques that I use. First I create a dropdown list with all the players names for each team. You could also set this up with player number as well. Then I use the excel function "vlookup" to go and get me the data I need. I illustrate a simple example of this using the soccer substitution graphic which we created some time back. After we extract the data that we need, I then show how to map those data fields to our graphic. As always we go step by step.
