thank you Julija (what a great difference to spell your name), this will come handy of several boxy dresses I have to add a small gathered waist. You explained and showcased in detail, very easy to follow.
Just used this method to add waistbands to some swim coverups that were very oversized. It took me a bit to understand in practice and I ended up doing 5 rows instead of 3 but the end result looks great! Thanks much for this information
Can you do this in reverse? I look better in straight lines than with a waistband. Was thinking of doing this with a dress I recently got - I want to take out the waist elastic.
Thank you for a great tutorial. I am mostly a visual learner and your instructions are well demonstrated too. Love your sweater idea - I also knit and would like to try that out. And it also helps you have coppery hair & fair skin to see how good it looks on you. (yes I have the same going for me).
What if you already had a very small band of elastic around the waist but wanted to make it thicker? Would it be possible to follow what was already there without drawing the lines because the dress doesn't hang straight anymore?
Thank you so much. I have been searching for a video like this. I have sewn A line dress that I don't like the look of. Too baggy. This will be perfect!!
