What is the "EA Kiswahili Commission $1,502, 535 budget supposed to do? Kiswahili is not the lingua franca of the East African Community (EAC), nor is it the indigenous language of most of the population of the seven-member states! I hope this is not a thinly veiled attempt to impose the language upon the EAC with a rich diversity of indigenous languages. Had this budget been named the EA INDIGENOUS LANGUAGE COMMISSION, as an EAC member, I would understand. I am afraid as it stands, it can only favour "Kiswahili" for reasons unknown and biased against our EAC indigenous languages.
