Late May and early June 2016 saw two Eastern Region thoroughbreds tackling the North Downs Line over the Surrey Hills: Peppercorn A1 Class no.60163 'Tornado', and Gresley A3 Class no.60103 'Flying Scotsman'. We begin the video with a single shot of Tornado, working the British Pullman on Friday the 27th of May. The New Build A1 is seen working hard away from the water stop at Shalford, passing through Chilworth Station. Next up, we have three shots of Flying Scotsman, working a The Cathedrals Express on Wednesday 25th of May, and again a week later, on the 1st of June. She is first seen on the Chertsey Branch Line at Virginia Water, accelerating away from the 15mph restriction around the tight curve through Virginia Water Station itself. Afterwards, she is seen on the North Downs Line, east of Chilworth, passing over Blackheath Lane Crossing, near Albury. The final shot sees her a week earlier, as she glides through the Surrey countryside, by Hackhurst Farm.
Filmed on a Panasonic HS900 with a Pro Sound L92AA microphone.
Enjoy.
