Just get a laguna rectangular tub 60 gallons on amazon. Decent price, and use a Sensodyne Toothpaste cap with plumber's tape to seal the hole. And use a 350 penguin marineland hob, and cut the plastic intake to decrease the length to filter properly.
Such beautiful fish, that are bred and groomed with so much care...that I never saw you quarantine before putting them with the other fish in the pond :-(
Do you use a heater for them during winter? It’s my first winter with my hundred gallon DIY pond and so far they’re doing good it gets down to about 50° here and there still eating I just wanted to know if I should get a heater for my ranchu and butterfly telescope goldfish! What do you suggest?
I don't use a heater since its very warm in Miami and the very few times it was cold my fish were perfectly fine, i just didn't feed them high protein and less food during the cold days. If it gets really cold, a heater on hand would be a good idea
Thanks for sharing. How often do you change water and how many % of water? I heard many people change it everyday... I tried to change it every two weeks..
Thank you! I change the water of my aquarium every two weeks and the water in my pond once a month. When I change the water I do 100 water changes. When it rains a lot, I collect the water and change the pond water 3-4 times a month at 50% change
Beautiful ranchu's. I'm thinking about ordering the starter pack. Is this your first order through East coast ranchu? Never ordered fish on-line and I'm a little nervous lol
yes, but this water has been treated before shipping to help with shipping stress so i add anti-chlorine to it to help balance out the ammonia. I then transfer them to bags and float them in the water that way their temperature matches the aquarium or pond water, but i only introduce the fish in their new home and throw away the shipping water.
thank you! I feed them 3-4 times a day. I feed them the purple and green saki hikari sinking pellets, bloodworms, peas, veggies, homemade gel food, seaweed, etc
Your Ranchus are very good quality because their back are beautifully curved like arch. Several years after, they will have a possibility to grow bumps of their face bigger. Is this kind of hobby popular in U.S.? I bought and kept some black colored babies, younger than a year, many years ago. It was very hard to bring them up.
yes, i take them out of the kordon bags, place the fish in the bowl, and then add them to a fish bag. I then float them in the tank to acclimate them. I skipped that part in the video
One of them was similar to my goldfish he was chubby and cute, he lived for 3 years and when he died we buried him... RIP Bob The Survivor, yes I know I'm amazing at naming. The reason we called him that is because my brother filled the aquarium with its food by accident and Bob somehow survived, last time my brother did that our fish died her name was Angel.
Amazing video, loved it, where did you order you fish from? I absolutely need to order some myself. Congrats on your beauties. PD: Loved to see your face when you were unpacking the fish, you look so happy that makes me happy, lol.
Thank you! that's very nice of you. Goldfish make me so happy. I buy my ranchus and orandas from East Coast Ranchu, the fish available can be seen on the youtube channel and the website www.eastcoastranchu.com
