Yo, SPOOKY‼️ those Gold Medal plaques are my new favorite kind of "MEDALS!" For so many 1990s NYC hip hop artists that never sold out or got wet in the mainstream (GangStarr & BOOGIE DOWN PRODUCTIONS comes to mind), "going Gold" was just as good as platinum status. moving 500,000 units meant Mass Appeal, and at the very least, it guaranteed that your record label wouldn't drop you! Trophies & medals are what we expect to see given to triumphant competitors. But reimagining those through the lens of music culture is such a STROKE OF BRILLIANCE! Super Duty Tough Work shout-out to whoever was the person who had that incredibly dope idea! It really speaks to the character of the event. This that shit rite here!💯
