Sulzer powered Peak! Class 45, 45108 is seen working the diesel service on the East Lancashire Railway. A rather dull and windy January day, but at least the rain kept off... well till 4pm at least! 11th January 2020
Very underrated locos. I remember travelling from Nottingham Midland to St Pancras (via Oakham) behind a Green Beast around 1962/3..Then having moved up North near the Settle-Carlisle, The expresses were always Peak Hauled mainly off Leeds Holbeck...I could go on!
In my train spotting days my local haunts didn’t have Peaks so I only got to see them when I went to London and called in at St Pancras . Nice video mate .
No, sorry Alan, didn't even get the station sign in the shot. Yes started at Ramsbottom, then on to Rawtenstall and finishing back at Bury . Lovely station in 'Rammy' and the road crossing and box along side!! Also a couple of antique shops just up the road to browse round while waiting for the next train!
