Sulzer powered Peak!
Class 45, 45108 is seen working the diesel service on the East Lancashire Railway.
A rather dull and windy January day, but at least the rain kept off... well till 4pm at least!

Very underrated locos. I remember travelling from Nottingham Midland to St Pancras (via Oakham) behind a Green Beast around 1962/3..Then having moved up North near the Settle-Carlisle, The expresses were always Peak Hauled mainly off Leeds Holbeck...I could go on!

In my train spotting days my local haunts didn’t have Peaks so I only got to see them when I went to London and called in at St Pancras . Nice video mate .

Very atmospheric at Bury as the lights come on. With the headcode it looks just right as a scene from the 1970s.

The loco is currently fitted with “Class 46” style headcodes as were many of the “split box” types in their service days

No, sorry Alan, didn't even get the station sign in the shot. Yes started at Ramsbottom, then on to Rawtenstall and finishing back at Bury . Lovely station in 'Rammy' and the road crossing and box along side!! Also a couple of antique shops just up the road to browse round while waiting for the next train!
