I can see misinformation given in this film. Factually - picking mushrooms in urban situations, specifically - picking mushrooms from a busy roadside. Fungi are extremely efficient at absorbing toxicity, as such, the mushrooms being picked at the roadside are definitely poisoned by the passing traffic emissions.
The problem with foraging mushrooms by the side of a road is that they will absorb toxins from their enviroment any traffic pollution passing their way is going to be absorbed. Iv personally picked and ate shrooms by main roads before. But it's not something I would reccomend
This could be a fantastic channel if you stopped referring to Old People! After all one wouldn't refer to middle aged people taking one out to catch rabbits would you!? Just saying.
I’m sure that John is a very nice guy but foraging for mushrooms by a roadside is not only unsafe it sets a really bad example… The mycelium which create these mushrooms is an extraordinarily good conduit for all things toxic, basically roadside mushrooms will contain all sorts of pollutants so suggesting that this is a sensible way to behave is inappropriate. Unfortunately my name is also John and my business is called Forage London so I find it somewhat irksome that this video constantly comes up in my video feed under the title Forage London… I’d just like to point out that however lovely the other John might be, he is not me and I don’t recommend behaving like this.
