Its easy to be in the wrong place at the right time when everyone around you is in some shit. The people who say he should've made better decisions never had to grow up in that type of environment.
It’s amazing how people who are not Black say we should “stop playing the victim” or “ slavery was years ago” however, we forget in recent time that the government brought drugs in black communities that caused havoc. Just ask Kurtis who did everything right, just made a bad choice to ride in a car with neighbors and ended up going to jail for 17 years.
@@kencoch7944 don't even consider it a bad decision he was riding with his people like I say anything can happen when everybody around you got something going on.
You hear those little kids talking about "I like how he died in style" and you realize that they being influenced to admire hustlers and embrace death at a very young age. That ain't on them.
I met a chick from Cali mane and I'm from Memphis. Mane that shit was irritating! This weed hella good. She hell ugly. This food hella good. I'm hella high. Bitch shut up mane
@@MrGrace mayne came from the south that was apart aftican slaves language. Kinda similar to jamacians when the say "mon''. Mistah fab siad it in the kansas city bay mac dre documentary that the bay and south is litterally the same slang. As snoop said we all came from the south
@@rocklookalike Do you not know how to critically think? What caused those conditions and what caused people to resort to selling drugs? And didn’t you know the CIA were the ones who helped bring in drugs to Oakland and the rest of California to dismantle the Black Panther Party? There is literally proof and paperwork on that. RIP Felix Mitchell and the rest of the Town legends.
@@G23-k5r legend of what??drug dealing?? and making millions.. hmm where did he make all that money from?? all those crack heads in Oakland and surrounding cities.
I'm from Oakland, I went to the same middle school ( We called it Jr. High back then, Havenscourt) and Castlemont High school with them cats. Curtis was a baller for sure, but make no mistake, that boy had hands, and he would put them blenders on you if need be. Gerald, was better know as 'Pokie', and as bright as he was (straight A student, G.A.T.E. classes), that dude was crazy! If you valued your well being, you would not...I repeat, you would not, make fun of this nigga glasses. I saw many a fool get mopped for making fun of Pokie's glasses. Them cats were from the Village, which meant there was a lot of fire power to back them up too. As crazy as it seemed then, those were simpler times.
I don't know. Last time I heard information on Curtis Lee was over 20 years ago...word had it he was still in prison, but honestly, I couldn't confirm that information. It was a shame though, cause he was a cool cat, he always act more mature than his age. He was a couple of years older than me and my homies, and was pretty much someone we looked up to and tried to emulate.
One love family I remember when Pokie crashed into them apartments him and Ira was potnas, I came across this on a fluke! We made it😀 Peace and Prosperity to you and your family ESO love❤🖤💚
@@kevinwilliams6024 Are you on I.G family? If so I put together Events for our people and on some Very Solid shit! And want our people to Win, and do all I can to aid and assist with that!
Sad story, 84 was two years before i was born, but yea ive heard about how crazy it was back then, & watching documentaries like this i get to learn more....life for those two brothers couldve been alot different, & they could still be alive if smarter choices were made. Rip gerald.....this story could be made into an inspiring movie based on true events
I lived across the street from castlemont it was awful the kids use to be in my apartment parking lot all night. a little girl like 15 or 16 out there all night with her baby thinking it's cool. One night around 1 am I just went out there and gave her baby a blanket
I thought the same thing, lol. Them ones who don't put no extras on it and don't talk, just handle business on the court...they be the hardest. You only find out how good they are after you've won like five games straight.
In oakland CA, sad to say but THE GOOD DIE YOUNG, and the ones that pick up a gun and drugs never the ones that die.. they are on the offensive with gunplay and get reputation of a killer.. they mostly never caught lackin
I am from deep east too, 86 N Olive was my section.. shit is still the same as always. It's the lawless wild west, we don't respect police at all, Oakland is different from everyother city n the world. We drive fast, swang donuts every sideshow, we love fast money, fast cars... And the role models are still ones in Bentley's n Maseratis .. crazy high murder rates, because now it's crack babies having 2nd gen crack babies, and they kill for the sport of it really.
mrfabulous17 Serious gentrification going on. The average cost for a one bedroom apartment is roughly $1,400 for a very small apartment with burglar bars on your windows and no grass out front. $1,400 is on the low end for an an apartment that was built in the early 70s. Many Black people in this area (East Oakland) have moved to Vegas and Dallas because it’s cheaper to live.
reckless fax he did what he could and more based on what he was given. Honorable man in my eyes. Put in a system to fail and allowed others to succeed and survive. If you know then you know.
Sad story about them two brothers,, absolutely tragic that one died and the other in prison, I hope he got a second chance at life in the end, for his brother’s sake. Long shot now but any Oakland hood historians on here that knows if he made it out of prison and got his chance with a wife and kids? I’d like to think so…… I’m from Ireland and grew up in the same circumstances except for the gums and crack. Prejudice is everywhere, if it’s not based on colour it’s based on social class
Is it seeing the dope boys getting money, women and respect. Or is it seeing two brothers like these -- successful in school and sports ,trying to make it by working hard.Yet in the end,one brother in prison, the other shot dead by police in a mistaken identity. Or is it living in East Oakland ?
@@crackazack510 early 2000's was grimey too. I say from 2000 -2010(10 yrs), oakland was consistently in the top 10 most dangerous cities list by FBI. It calmed down now mostly due to gentrification but don't think it's all good, it can still get grimey and dont look like a target and you should be good.
Not true at all I'm from the town and grew up around that neighborhood I didn't get Into shxt stop judging people when you don't know wtf your talking about period if you don't know don't say shxt fuxk what RU-vid talking about half the shxt is not correct
Obviously you can get rich quick, it's supply and demand. If there's not much around, they charge as much as they desire, I've heard it was $50 for .10 of a Gram
