East of Sweden: Longest open sea crossing (20 km) [6]

After a short and clumsy day yesterday, I got good rest on my private island. The winds were very light, and, though the first part of sailing was upwind, the wind kept turning in my favour, so gradually the course I wanted to make came within reach.
It was scary, but also beautiful to cross the sea in this manner. The winds were light, and the sky looked stable. So I made a few big crossings, and made it to Landsort, where they had a shop, and even a restaurant that was open!
This was a big but very easy day, with about 45 kilometers covered, all easy and fast sailing. Since the wind was so stable and the sea so flat, I even pulled the hiking plank out for the first part. It is always more comfortable, but can't be done in a seaway.

Great sailing Koos. I love those winds where there is enough to reach hull speed but not so much that you have to spill wind or reef. Perfect!

Yes, I could even lie down in the boat some stretches, easy progress

Well done on the long crossing! They are exhilarating but also a bit nerve racking being so far from land.

Indeed! You know there's no problem, but the mind works...

I remember the feeling of being far out where you no longer can see land, great when you have reached land again.

Yes it is hard on the nerves, nothing in sight. You know it is ok, but the mind plays tricks

Great sailing. U have to take care with ships as they can approach from behind where u aren't looking

Yes, I was sailing outside the shipping lane but always look around. For a crossing, sometimes I stop and check the AIS on a phone app

Bicycle! On a canoe? I'll have to watch more videos to see how you manage that!
