East Somerset Railway: 50 years of steam 

When the late wildlife artist David Shepherd set up the East Somerset Railway back in 1974 it all started with little brake van rides.
Skip forward to 2024 and it’s a booming heritage attraction, run mainly by volunteers who welcome thousands of passengers every year.
But there’s more than just the 50 years of history - this is the story of the East Somerset Railway.
