Yeah it was clean that the prime minister at the time, Edward heath, was looking at ways to clean London up because it was so notoriously scruffy

I remember it well as a child. Every Sunday. Have you noticed how many markets across London have closed down over the last 30-40 years? Either that or they have become yet another fast food market. The markets were one of the hubs of the community

I.remember walking up and down East lane countless times as a kid with my dad . Stopping at the jellied eel stall, and the saspirilla stall on our way to see my Nan and Grandad, who lived on East street. Wonderful times.

Great footage. That clapperboard between takes, means this footage originally, definitely had sound.

Little did we know back then how our way of life and culture would be completely destroyed buy mass immigration. I cry for what it has now become.

I well remember the Sarsapirilla seller in East Lane. 😊 Don't remember the jellied eel stall though. He seems to have been doing a roaring trade in this film.

@@returnofthegmac9203 It was from Baldwins and they had a shop on the Walworth Road (think it may still be there) and you used to get it in a pint jug. Anyway to answer your question you can get it in Tesco, think it may be classed in the 'world foods' section rather than with the usual squash, cordials etc.
