Btw what I meant is that I never got around to ask her if I could have it (waaaaay earlier she said I could) when I visited her. Didn't visit her very often tho,as the drive was about an hour long.

slight correction: the Mac floppy drives that could now read 720k and 1.44mb disks, were called Superdrives specifically because they could now also read MSDOS formatted floppies. Apple's marketing made the distinction that only Macs with SuperDrives could work with both Mac and Windows/DOS floppies, and this was a pretty super feature that leveled the playing field for schools, businesses, and home users - "bring your floppy from work/school home"

Check if it works and remove the clock battery ASAP, it's urgent. It will explode and corrode the entire machine. Those batteries have a 100% failure rate when they expire.

Easter Eggs are always fun. I think I have an earlier model somewhere I acquired from a thrift store many years ago, but I lack the keyboard / mouse combo to do anything much with it, let alone see if this Easter Egg works on it, unfortunately.

Afaik it goes all the way back to the 128k in one form or another - not sure if it has the same ROM entrypoint. Jobs was not happy when Vtech made an Apple ][ clone and he wanted a way to embarass anyone who tried cloning the Mac in court.
