POPPY SEED CAKE RECIPE
Dough:
- 500 grams of flour
- 100 grams of butter
- 100 grams of sugar
- 2 yolks
- 140 ml of milk (I use unsweetened soy milk)
- 40 grams of fresh yeast
Filling:
- Ready or home-made poppy seed filling* 600 grams
- 2 beaten egg whites
- a few drops of almond extract
HOW TO MAKE IT:
1. Melt the butter, sugar and milk in a pot and set aside to cool
2. Place the crushed yeast and egg yolks in a large bowl, mash with a fork, and then add the cooled butter, sugar, and milk.
3. Add flour. Mix with a spatula and when the ingredients are combined, knead with your hands for 5 minutes.
4. Leave the dough to rise for 2-3 hours (the dough should triple in volume).
5. Add 2 beaten egg whites and almond extract to the poppy seed mixture and mix thoroughly.
6. Roll out the risen dough into a 1-1.5 cm disc. Spread the poppy seed mixture on it and gently roll up the dough.
7. Place the dough on baking paper and roll it twice.
8. Baking - 40 minutes / Oven 180 degrees (fan)
HOME-MADE POPPY SEED FILLING:
- 500 g of dry blue poppy seeds
- 50 g raisins
- 50 g of dried cranberries
- 50 g dried apricots
- 70 g walnuts or pecans
- 100 g of candied orange peel
- 4 tablespoons of natural honey - 80 g
- 100 g of sugar, e.g. cane sugar
- 2 tablespoons of butter - 20 g
How to make Poppy Seed Filling:
1. Pour the poppy seeds into a pot and pour three cups of water over them. Stir everything and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to a minimum and cook for another five minutes. After this time, pour the whole thing into a large but fine strainer placed, for example, on a wide bowl and set aside for 20 minutes for the poppy seeds to cool down. During this time, you will also get rid of excess water.
2. Grind the slightly cooled poppy seeds, well drained of excess water, in a meat grinder with the smallest attachment. Sometimes you have to grind it twice.
3. While the cooked poppy seeds are cooling (or at any other time), prepare the dried fruit - chop them into small pieces.
4. Place the ground and cooled poppy seeds into a larger pot. Pour four tablespoons of natural honey into the pot. Add about 100 grams of sugar. Add about 20 grams of butter and add about 70 grams of chopped nuts. Walnuts or a mixture of walnuts and pecans are best. Add all previously prepared dried fruits and mix the mixture. Place the pot on the burner with minimum power. Stir the poppy seed mass until the butter melts and the mass becomes uniform. However, this should not take longer than five minutes. The poppy seed mass is now ready for use (if you want to use it in a cake - add beaten egg whites).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ROYAL CHEESE CAKE RECIPE:
Ingredients:
- 1 kg of cottage cheese
- 250 grams of butter
- 160 grams of powdered sugar
- 6 eggs
- 2 tablespoons of vanilla sugar or a few drops of vanilla extract
- 150 grams of cream 36%
- 4 tablespoons of potato flour
- A few drops of arrack extract
HOW TO MAKE IT:
1. Separate egg whites and yolks.
2. Whisk egg whites.
3. Whisk the soft butter with the yolks and powdered sugar
4. Reduce the mixer speed and add cream, potato flour, vanilla sugar, arrack extract, and cheese (little by little). Mix until everything is combined.
5. Add whisked egg whites and mix carefully.
6. Put the dough into a cake tin (I used a round one 26 cm diameter) greased with butter or lined with baking paper.
7. Baking - 60 minutes at 170 degrees.
8. After baking, open the oven door slightly for 10 minutes, then open it halfway and take out the cheesecake after 5 minutes.

That's the thing. Running this channel takes a lot of time. So I am wondering if I want to spend more time on it (I have to take time away from many other things). I do not like to rush into decisions, so I give myself 4-6 months to make a final decision. Maybe something will change here, in my life, etc. We will see. I wish you a good time with your family.

@@aleksandra_c Honey, some of the youtubers have waited for years to build up a stable audience. 4-6 months is not enough! If you thought that you would make it big in a few months, you are utterly mistaken. I know that it takes a lot of time to make a video but if you will be patient you will make your dream come true.

Did you use cow dairy cream and cottage cheese?
@aleksandra_c
@aleksandra_c 2 месяца назад
I always use dairy-free products where lactose where removed (in terms of cream and cottage cheese, as for milk I use rice or soy milk, they great for cooking and baking).
@ToddDouglasFox
@ToddDouglasFox 2 месяца назад
@@aleksandra_c cream and cottage cheese with lactose removed is still dairy. It looked like dairy to us. As you likely know: “Lactose-free does not mean dairy-free. Lactose-free products are made with real dairy and contain all the nutrients of regular milk products.” This matters. As physicians and nutritionists we are happy to see that you eat eggs but even happier to know that you are using real dairy with lactose removed.
@aleksandra_c
@aleksandra_c 2 месяца назад
I explained this in one of my earlier videos. I am lactose intolerant. I am not allergic to lactose. Just intolerant (like a lot of people). This means that I can eat a tiny amount of lactose. I do not know the exact amount, but if I eat half a cup of yoghurt (standard with lactose) every day, I get sick after 3 days (stomach problems plus a rash on my skin that lasts a week or more). So every day I only eat things without lactose (soy milk, rice milk, soy yoghurt, tofu, cheese alternative made from soy oil). 2-3 times a week I eat something with lactose removed. Small amounts. Because the process of removing lactose is not perfect. The process is usually done in two stages. First, the products are dehydrated, which removes up to 40% of the lactose. Then the enzyme lactase is added to break down the lactose molecules into glucose and galactose. But there are still some amounts of lactose in the product. So even though they say it's a lactose-free product, there are still some amounts of lactose in it. And that is why I cannot have it every day. 2-3 times a week and in small amounts. And I am fine. I wish I had known this earlier, my teenage years were terrible because I had to consume normal dairy products. Of course, in those days, only people with allergic reactions were taken seriously. In my case I was told we don't know what's wrong, you're probably making yourself sick and for the rush - it's acne.... Had I not moved to Ireland, I would never have known what was wrong. That is the whole story. Ps. One more thing - when I lived in Ireland I did not have to eat any dairy products, there are a lot of dairy alternatives, but here in Poland it's a problem. So I use those lactose-free products but I keep it to a low amount. (and I always supplement my diet as I am aware what my body needs).

@@aleksandra_c we specialize in these issues because we also regenerate joints, no surgery or any other highly invasive techniques. So we have to know about patient’s dietary needs, deficiencies (that do not show up on labs), sensitivities, allergies, and so on. Ironically Ireland has some of the best, untainted dairy in the world. The U.S. is terrible for it. We also address toxins (and toxic load) that get most patients to a point of intolerance. It can be as simple as second hand smoke when a child, living or working near toxins, and of course food, soil, water, and air toxicity, as well as toxic foods that are not nutritious, water that is not vital, medications in general, crop toxins, industrial pollution, and so on. It’s a very delicate balance to get the body on track with the many exposures due to toxic load. These days children are getting cancers and autoimmune and psychiatric conditions in the U.S. as never before. Yes, lactose free does not mean no lactose at all. But dairy free does mean no dairy at all. We’ve found that people lose a lot of their sensitivities when their gut biome changes when their diet changes. If the gut has to ferment foods to digest them, it is hard on the human because unlike ruminants with multiple stomachs, we humans just have one chamber. All of this culminates to say that what we can eat and our exposures are becoming more and more fickle and detrimental as well as individuated. It’s always a wonderful eureka as well as solace for any of us to find our way even if in snippets. Thanks for your long response. One of these days we will overall be a lot smarter about individual differences, as we personally work to achieve every day, and hopefully a lot smarter about what is toxic to us and not using it because it has so many undesirable repercussions especially for our young and elderly. As for genetic, hormonal, enzymatic, biome and other individual differences, we will get smarter about these as well. In your case, we know much more than when you were a teen.

Wow a lot of textures are included in one video - fragile eggs, the soft mixing bowl, the spongy cheesecake, the smooth dogs😂, the rough trees and the cripsy leaves, etc. I also like the narrow compartment which you put your heatproof gloves. About your channel, I saw many channels have much fewer subscribers and yet still survived. Maybe the rules of YT have changed or they have different plans for the content creators to choose from? Yet, I understand the importance of getting more views and subscribers because I observed some content creators I liked became weird - pushing themselves to do something not aligned with their own characters eg showing too much of their private lives, creating too many new habits eg getting up super early to show the viewers, occupying too much, buying a lot of new products and decorations for their home or even 'torturing' their pets by requesting them to do a lot of tricks or making fun of them eg. Letting them walk on slippery surface or scaring them in order to film their reactions or upsetting them for the same purpose. These all seem toxic to me and I left for good. I really like what you said about things are nearly the same and simplicity is what you like. I have a full hectic schedule and this is all I need. Thanks a lot. Do you think making shorts or shorter videos help you reduce energy consumption and yet meet the requirement of YT (launching a few videos per week)? Because you have a job and chores to do, and you have a dream too (which is not making films).
@aleksandra_c
@aleksandra_c 2 месяца назад
Hello Adriana! Thanks for the advice, but it is not that simple. Creating shorts has consequences. For me, there are at least 2 aspects. First - what content? If I want to make a short film without spending too much time on recording and editing, then it could be dogs. A lot of people love dogs. But since my longer content is not about dogs (they are only a part of it), the people who came for the shorts would not watch my longer content. It would hurt the longer content and the channel overall. If I wanted to match the content of the shorts to the longer content - then coffee and recipes. Well... to record that I would have to record the whole process (the same time as for the longer content) and then I would have to go through the whole editing process to make 60-second shorts out of all the shots. It takes time. I talk about the shorts with high quality that matches my videos. People who make shorts really put a lot of effort into them. Well, there is more to it than that. One short film a day - it has to be really good. You can make a lot of shorts a day, but then you need something that can be done quickly (like jokes or you mentioned that - putting a pet into a stressful situation - I would never do that). That is the first aspect. The second is that I, as a person, do not like shorts or reels. I do not watch them. I am old school. I think if you want to learn something or if you want to do something with high quality, you have to take your time. This is just my opinion of course, but to me, it looks like people are watching all these reels and shorts and they think (not everybody, but unfortunately too many) this is life. Learning something - 2 seconds. Work - 2 seconds. Achieving something - 2 seconds. I have simplified this a bit, but I am sure you get it. The thing is, the channel doesn't have to grow to a huge number. The most important thing is that my audience (people who have subscribed) watch my videos. If everyone who subscribed watched, the channel would be great. That's all. And that's why it's so important to get the right audience. People who want to watch and connect with me. I hope this all makes sense. Have a great weekend! 🧡
@Adriana49942
@Adriana49942 2 месяца назад
@@aleksandra_c Thanks for explaining. :)I just thought if time is so tight maybe shorts would help (or for instance your Easter video can divided to Part 1 and 2 to become 2 videos) but I understood what you meant. What if people only watch half of your video? I sometimes pause the playlists for a task eg picking up a call and then I might need to text someone after that. Next time I can use another device for the playlist and even if I am away I can let it continue to play. If I hope to watch or listen to them again, I can replay and that can double the views. Enjoy your Sunday!

Thank you, Adriana ❤ YT is a really complicated topic. The longer people watch, the better. It's super if some would watch a least one ad. If they watch half with one ad it's still good. Not perfect but good. # We we nice weather here. I just came back from the garden and now it's time to finish the latest playlist :)
