The Easter manifestation is believed to have begun in the second half of the 19th century, or perhaps earlier. It does not have the notoriety of the other similar one, that in the same day it is carried out to Sulmona, with the name of "La Madonna che scappa in Piazza", but not for this it is less spectacular. Certainly it is much loved by the introdacquesi. Everything is very simple: after having prepared the statue of the Madonna in the Church of S.S. Trinità, Sunday morning through a draw (once through a public auction), is decreed the quadrille that will run the race. At midday on the dot while the square is full of crowds waiting spasmodica, here slowly appears from the climb of San Rocco the statue of the Madonna dressed in mourning, carried on the shoulders of four young people. Our Lady walks towards the opposite side of the square where the Risen Christ awaits, roughly half of the square when the Risen Christ is glimpsed the bearers slowly begin the frenetic Flying between fireworks, bells and bells local band playing in the background, the black cloak of the Madonna falls from her shoulders and she reappears in her usual and sumptuous celestial dress, on the right hand affixed of the white mourning handkerchief almost as if by magic a rose appears. A cry breaks out from the crowd, a cry of liberation after the spasmodic wait, is a moment of great general emotion!
Immediately after the meeting between the Madonna and the Risen Son we proceed with a large procession that runs through the main streets of the village, followed with devotion by the two confraternities, the authorities of the country and the people.
It is interesting to note that the Madonna for the Inauguates does not "run away", as in the Sulmonese expression, but "flies". And a real flight is what, seen from afar, seems to pass over the heads of the bystanders, crowded in a very narrow space, between jostling and overflowing not only by the smallest, with the ever-present risk of some fall of the porters and the statue. According to popular belief, the fall of the statue during the race would be a bad omen. The falls of 1953, 1981 and 2004 were ruinous, where the statue was partially damaged.
