Back in 1980 I owned a cheap cine camera. Here we have about 7 minutes of footage (which sadly is all I ever bothered to record!) of Eastern Counties buses at work, mainly in Ipswich, but also Stradbroke and Felixstowe. Types featured are Bristol RE & VR buses, Leyland Nationals and the open top Lodekka.

Great to see this. Passed my PSV test with ECOC in early 1980 and was based at Saxmundham and I remember driving these routes and some of these actual buses. Thank you for sharing this.

Bloody hell 1980s, there could have been a chance you knew my great grandad, he was driving busses then in his late 40s

Very evocative. I can smell the disinfectant-like floor cleaner that was liberally applied to all Counties buses at the time.
