Eastern Foxsnake does a "faux rattle" at me (Pantherophis vulpinus) 

This is not a rattlesnake nor is it venomous. Eastern Foxsnakes can rattle their tail when they feel threatened to mimic a rattlesnake and scare predators away. It only made me disappointed that I didn't find an actual rattlesnake however. ☹
