Best analysis of why Eastern religions were so heavy on asceticism. Abundance of fruits and roots in nature would definitely give rise to vegetarianism meanwhile northern regions of world being more warlike due to scarcity of resources and heavily dependent on animals.

In Eastern Philosophy, external circumstances are not in our control, we may change one thing in external world but some new problem may arise, you can not change each and every external circumstances, they can never, never be in your control but you surely can change yourself. @@TheUsername217Although similar in practice stoicism separates self from other, mind from body while eastern philosophy attempts to meld self and other. For example Daoism talks about the way (dao) or the natural order of the world and aligning yourself with it. I think it was Jung who said something along the lines of "Eastern Philosophy is alien to the western mindset and vice versa. In eastern philosophy you never question your elders or sanseis? Pure. Insanity. As if older people never go senile or are just stupid. Age does not equate in wisdom or intelligence. And change is a good thing, sometimes tradition is wrong, as its sometimes great.

You don't question in eastern tradition??? It's exclusively a Confucian thought. You are required to question infinitely until you understand in all indic traditions. The GURU is there for you . The 'gurutatva' is crucial. Change would also be embraced that's why we had countless debates in india. Debate untill you reach conclusion cause ' Nothing is permanent, so is one's opinion ' Namaste.

😂 I laugh at people when they discuss this topic because the way I think is simple there are things that we need to change in ourself and then there are outside things that need to be changed In short- "fix yourself, bring the same change in your character that you want to see in the society example if you are trying to save climate which even I want to. But first change your own habit- use cycle rather than cars and bike, use sunlight in day rather than light , reduce and clean your own environment, plant and grow as many tree as you can, etc then go outside in the world talking about climate change and saving the environment. Very nice content. However, one question may need more explanation. Why Greeks settled at places where they needed support from external sources (rationally an improbability). Today it may be an option due to technology etc. (there are examples also), whereas, at that time it may not be an option. You may be missing the point which led to development of Greek Civilization at places which as per your statement are not very population friendly and they have to manage everything by trading. Apparently not supporting the argument that Greeks choose trade due to such reasons. Your point of view please.
@AssassinsCr2
@AssassinsCr2 5 месяцев назад
What he said is not correct. The ancient Greeks were traders and seafearers, that's true, but they were never dependent on foregn food to survive, they produced their cause the land was fertile and the sea provided healthier food like fish. The first ideas of Western philisophy did not come from trading with the east, this is false, they were produced in Asia Minor colonies due to their more advanced societies. The Western philosophy has nothi g to do with materialism as tye video says. Aristotle - probably the most knowledgeable person in history - made it rather clear in his texts that a healthy mind is the origin of all happiness. And finally, while the Eastern philosophy has led to slavery cause that's where the idea of prioritizing the mind and direarding the body leads, the Western philosophy begun from the ideas that the body and the soul are combined which automatically means that a healthy mind can't be in an unhealthy body. These are the ideas that abolished slavery.

I was brought up in a rather Procrustean manner and had almost no agency of my own, so I had to change myself to survive and not go insane. I went within and 'built a temple'. Thanks for your efforts! I am afraid that the subject in this video you have made, it is not based either in not very good source or in not very good perception. I can say that with a great confidence as a Greek and a great friend of wisdom/philosophy. I can challenge you on the similarities of Ancient Greek philosophy and Buddhism, perhaps you might find a good subject to work on, I personally have done that for the last couple of years…you will be amazed. I noticed some errors too, as for example Ancient Greece gave birth to Roman Empire, so they are not in the same time, nevertheless you forgot to count Macedonia, the empire of Alexander The Great, who was one of the students of Aristotle. And something else, fundamentally the main goal in Ancient Greece was for a person to became excellent/aristos (aristos = a person of fine values and skills), so the word aristocracy, actually means a republic/kratos of aristus/fine Individuals. However between black and white there are undoubtedly infinite shades of grey, so my dear friend, we own everything in any matter to ancient times, that can not be explained in 20’, we the humans did very badly afterwards, didn’t Lear much of the legacy we were left with🙏🏻

Not two minutes and you've characterized Tagore as a representative of Eastern thought but characterized his subjectivism as being based in quantum theory -- maybe it was, but isn't that Chopra? -- and then reduced Jesus' mission to "confronting injustice," something He did, but that was not the purpose of His mission. It seems to me that you're trying to turn both of them into modern Western heroes, the subjectivist rebelling against the chains of so-called reality and the revolutionary breaking the chains of oppression.

Great video, tho there’s something that should be added. And that is that Ancient Christian and overall Abrahamic cultural beliefs are more similar to Eastern philosophy and theology. Actually a lot of modern western ideas are by technically part of the eastern cultural sphere especially Greek cultural ideas and philosophies from before roman times. These weren’t western and were more part of the eastern, specifically middle eastern cultural sphere. They became western solely by an For example good and bad in Judaism were far more blurred especially around the concept of God. God in ancient Abrahamic beliefs is far more benevolent and less good and more like a mix of sometimes being straight up draconian and then other times (which in religious terms is a reflection of how society at the time was.) Islam as an example too shows God not as a pure good or evil guy at times he’s a generous benevolent god and sometimes he is a God who is not afraid of showing tough love. In Judaism God also works as a being of neutrality, similar to Ying and Yang. All the Christian ideas we believe are western are Eastern in nature or of Western European origin.

Jesus accepted his fate in the hands of the Roman authorities, and of religious elite Jews, but his sacrifice led to actual change within the larger world, and in the cosmic reality.
