Great group, thanks! Cedar, Billy and Bob Berg are playing in heaven now, possibly with Sam Jones, Set list for those who care - 1) the ending of Fiesta Espaniol, 2) solo piano "I'll let you know", 3) "Hindsight", 4) Berg's feature "Soul Eyes", 5) "Firm Roots, 6)David Williams' feature "On the Trail". All compositions by Cedar Walton except 4) by Mal Waldron and 6) by Ferde Grofe.
Oh man one of my favorite bands of all time!!! Bob Berg w Curtis Fuller or is it the other way round. Everyone with Cedar and David and Billy!!! Thank you forever for posting this 🥰🙏🏼
Interesting outfit' and some nice tunes and interplay. However, the VHS makes the piano sound like a harpsichord thru' a chorus-pedal, and Bobs tenor like a vacuum cleaner. Pity, the sound in the venue was big. Thanks for posting, I love Billy Higgins (10.06)..Peace
I disagree about the VHS being the issue. It's obvious the "sound" dude had his head up his ass. Mic. levels and balance are unfortunately a joke. Could barely hear Curtis Fuller as well as Berg on Firm Roots and Cedar was way too hot at times and others, not nearly enough. You can hear the natural echo of the venue because again, the mic's were only props most of the time. Yeah the VHS had tracking issues at times but I assure you that was Bob Berg's true sound.....like it or not and I love(d) it.
Hey doce, you kill me man. A vacuum cleaner!! When I was a kid I turned a friend onto Joe Henderson w Hubbard and company on Straight Life. My pal said Joe sounded like a dog being run over by a car. Vacuum cleaner, dying dog. Tenor saxophone in the hands of masters. Gotta love it!!!
