Back hurts, couldnt get my socks on and not sure how much ill do today, next clip moving a 2500lb splitter by hand haha Thanks for always having a video ready in the morning for when i start my work day.
Your back may have been hurtin and sore, but you and Bo knocked out that truck load quick, fast; and in a hurry. Love watching your vids every day Chris, keep up the amazing work
In all honesty, and with much due respect; I feel that it’s Chris’s choice on how he operates his wood yard. Some people that do this kind of work, are old school and set in their ways; they like the exercise. As Chris stated before, the wood yard is his own personal gym. But there are others out there I’m sure, that would take a different approach to it.
Finally, someone who knows how to run a saw. Nice to see someone cut with a chain saw that doesn’t have to howse it 2-3 times before cutting each piece of wood.
I was headed out to cut wood this morning but by the time I finished watching you and Bo I was just too tired!!!😉 I hope you can get out of bed tomorrow!!
Chris, sorry you hurt your back. You guys made quick work of that pile. Bo as we know sure is a worker. It is good that you can put him anywhere and he does a great job no matter if it is feeding the splitter with rounds, splitting rounds, moving the splits, and or stacking! Great to have hom around. Hope your back feels better. Great to see Harry's splitter in action. Will be different going back to the Ultra! Have a great day!
@@InTheWoodyard i was thinking that! Yeah, i got a lot done in the last few days. Im paying for it. Doctor said do what i can. Want to get it done before ice/snow they are predicting comes. 1 more day and i should be done. Excavator is coming to straighten out the creekline. Got 1 tree, Thorny locust a few cheery, few oaaks an elm and a hackberry to go. Never cut a thorny locust down before.
You two are a riot! You make a great team. It looks like Bo has all the skills to be a firewood producer. We just need to see him on the saws. Keep bringing the awesome videos!! Dave
Morning Chris. Watching you and Beau working together reminds me of a song by Carly Simon, the year my youngest son graduated high school. 1997. “ NOBODY DOES IT BETTER?” Great teamwork once again🪵👍 Take care of your back!
It took all day in 5 -7 minute clips but I watched it all on the day it aired! Good stuff, I like the longer videos with lots of real time action. I'll be firing up the saws and splitter tomorrow if the weather holds
nice to see beau on the splitter! i'm peresian french so i love cognac! glenlivet's good also! bought a 572xp today but only had a half hr to play before dark! think i might have to take a pull off the rakers to get her to cut a bit better! great vid! see ya tomorrow!
Knocked that pile out in no time..might be time for bo and the 12-22 to be regular guests at the wood yard maybe a partnership brewing? You are uncle Chris after all, looks like a good trustworthy fella and good worker.
I guess old habits are hard to break. I watched you two struggle moving the splitter by hand, when you had a perfectly good orange splitter-mover in the background. We're not as young as we once were, and it takes longer to heal every year. Stay healthy.
When you're an old firewooder geezer, you look at the tractor over there, about 3/4 or 8 miles away, then when you get there, you still gotta climb up and on. Heck! Just move it! S Sadly, we've never been as young as we once were. Too bad Tony hasn't explained that to Chris! He's old enough to know better, woodyard ballet without warmups!! Sidebar: You ever wonder how high a bldg Superman could bound over when he started being a wheezer geezer of, say, 58 or 59? I wonder if you could sell a comid book about a man of steel from a faraway planet, posing on Earth as a mild mannered, gray bearded firewooder? LMAO!! Preposterous! Not even little kids who believe in Santa Claus would buy that! Sorry Chris!
Awsome video. You guys cut and split a lot of wood today. Way to work through the pain! As I was watching I was thinking it's a testament to Eastonmade's engineering that you can use the 6-way for the small stuff almost as well as a 4-way. I slowed down the video to watch the big rounds you cut near the end go through, she didn't miss a beat! I'm guessing that's where the 6-way shines. 10"-16" wood. Love the 'shore lunch'. I was like you as a kid. I'd take off with a pack of brats, buns, a can of beans and go hiking for the day. Cheers!
Oh to be young again. That Bo is one hard worker but it isn't too surprising. It apparently runs in the family. Impressive amount of wood cut and split. So satisfying to look at that huge pile of wood at the end of the day.
We are like vinyl, supple when we are new , getting brittle as time goes on!🤣 You still did more work than most people in a day. Don’t forget to lubricate your back with a bit of Scotch !
Good one Chris. You want to hope that Bo goes back to college soon, while you can still walk! Bo is ‘the machine.’ So good to see a young man that is willing to work hard….🎩’s off to you Bo. However, you should take it easy on uncle Chris, he’s not used to such hard ‘graft.’ 😂😂😂! Take care fellas …..hope we see a bit more of young Bo? Len (Devon 🇬🇧)
Hi Chris it's Big Rodders in Ireland. First of all, you should be sampling Irish Whiskey, not Scotch. It was the Irish that originally taught the Scots how to make spirits! Looking forward to your overall assessment and analysis of the if and when Harry is allowed to retrieve his "new" splitter. To add another dimension to the discussion, if that load of logs was typical of what you get, perhaps a processor such as the Japa could be your optimum next purchase if the economics stack up.
Hi Chris. That was a mountain of work. Some day a Four in One bucket will drive through your gate and relieve you of a whole lot of work. Regards. David. Down Under.
Been cutting ash every day after checking traps still waiting on my old splitter to be fixed. Keep up the great videos and pay that boy good.....have a good one.
Love the roving camera, great action shots of the “self-proclaimed Sauce King” in action. Day 5 in the harsh wilds of Appleton, young Beau must be disoriented , that body part didn’t look like your arm, maybe a different part? Take care, guys
We call the cookies, Mama's wood. It goes in a special place under our shelter house and is used in the fireplace. That way we don't waste pretty wood just for fun.
Lots accomplished in the woodyard today. I wish John would give you the same consideration about clean wood that you give your customers, but the wood seems to be really dry in the log and will freeze dry now that it's split. Good wood, good saw, good chucken, good splitten, good help, good tunes, good beverage, good fire, good nite Irene.
You chainsaw “flick” reminds me of those old Larry Bird Michael Jordon commercials. Flick it out of the logs off the split wood and on to the splitter. Good work!
Assuming the cookies are too small to split for your customers ? I am a beginner cutting and splitting for my own log burner in uk. Have a stihl ms181 and forest ranger splitter. Small scale but love it and being outside
Better get to stacking! Should have a poll on how much would that load stacks out too! I’m guessing 10 full cords and 2 face cords! Closest guess gets a brat over an open fire in the woodyard!
I don’t see much of that wheel barrow and shovel anymore… Great job.’ With the 12-22. Pallet forks would be another time saver Chris. Think portable cookie bin. Rest that back hope it feels better!!
Would you recommend building inventory until you stop running out of ready to burn inventory? Then go after more customers like convenience stores and a larger delivery area to get more sales?
Just imagine how much faster you would be if the logs were bigger diameter. The four way would be better suited for the majority of those logs you are cutting. Better control of your split size. Those logs would be perfect for a small or mid-size processor with a log deck. Less physical handling and more tractor time. You are not getting any younger Chris. I hope your back is feeling better. Good to have the young lad helping out. Nothing wrong with the Eastonmade 12-22 splitter, but for those smaller logs you are not going to see the true benefits of that machine. Always more fun when you are working together. Love the camp fire too. Especially on a cold day.
Those big saws look heavy as you’re bucking the logs down. Any thought to having slightly smaller ones for the “easy” work like that? I know my Stihl MS 311 gets heavy, but I don’t do this all day every day.
No, the saws I cut with are way faster than small saws, for me they are just right. I have run bigger saws (395,390) and smaller saws (555,560), these cut fast and are not too big to handle.
I never met a Glenlivet I didn’t like. 14 is a great choice! I’ve heard the term “neck pour” and don’t think it means direct from bottle to throat. 😆 Cheers 🔥🥃🇨🇦
Type in Great Day Lawnmower Towing Hitch. Since you have a John Deere riding lawnmower this would be very easy to use in place of that manual one you bought.
Good morning Chris!!😀😀 Awesome job guys!! I bet it feels good to have that load done. Man the yard is looking pretty empty. Has John been bringing any loads yet? I see you do still have one more load of barkless oak left to do yet. Take care my friends!!😀😀 Logger Al
I realize the dry cherry is insurance that you won’t sell out this winter but you aren’t building up product for this coming fall. I know that not being able to fill orders would drive you crazy so what’s going to happen? More Bo appearances or a processor?
I use a cable tie/zip tie on my saw handle for a marker, I show how to make and use it on a few videos on my channel ,check them out! Thanks for watching 1300 videos waiting for you and a new one every morning!
Chris I also run a 572xp with a 24 inch bar. Have you tried the Oregon semi chisel 72DPX084G? I find it works great when bucking piles like this full of dirt and debris. Last 3 times longer between sharpenings!!
We got 2+ feet of snow coming for the Jersey Shore Line. It is definitely going to put a serious case of nothing doing other than snow plowing for the next few days.
Yup, that has been mentioned about 1 million times now, good idea! Thanks, now that you have finally told me I better get it done! HAA! Thanks Michael!
Hi there, i am writing from Turkey. I am enjoying the watching your videos very much and already watched most of them. After processing the firewood you do get lots of 'waste' pieces of wood and you throw onto your back yard. Instead of storing there why do not you build up a half cord size wood dryer? You can easly make a homemade wood dryer and can use those cookies and waste to burn and dry your wet firewood in a short time.
Yup, that is a good idea! I only have so much time and I can not do everything possible with the firewood so I just do what I can for now. Thanks for watching KAMURAN!
Love watching your videos Chris! You owe it to your viewers to let us know how many hours are on the eastonmade when it finally gets picked up by Harry 😂. You’ve inspired me to start my own RU-vid channel. If you have time, give “Old Guy Firewood” a look… I’d appreciate your thoughts!
Yeah🤔 I second that motion of letting us know the hours on the Easton Made 12-22 log splitter. This would definitely give us a better idea of split time for one truck load and then Chris can tell us how many cords were in the truck! Right ,Chris????
Very impressive knocking that out!!! That’s tough working!! So how many cords will you get?? Ya know that timber ridge splitter will move around much better I agree that one seems very hard too move..
