Locust is phenomenal stove wood. It leaves a great coal bed and has higher btu's than oak. You should really keep that for yourself.

Hi Scheib. Great video. I’m catching up on some videos now. That splitter is an animal. I’ve never dealt with locust before. But I’ve split poplar for in bundles. I think I dries faster than maple. You’re going to be able to mix it in your bags & stand this fall.

You won't have any trouble with the locust. Here in the midwest id put it up against about anything . I refer to it as " The king"

Hi Scheib. That box wedge does a great job. I love poplar for bundles. I mix it with ash, maple, and a little oak. Dries quickly, burns great.

Great video Don! Been gone a little while from you tube with everything going on. Poplar great for Camp firewood. I use Locust for firplace or OWB because it is a dense wood and leaves a hot bed of coals. Inwould not put that intonyour camp firewood. Like seeing the pizza wedge in action.

Hey Scheib, not sure what kind of Hickory that is, but I do know it will make awesome firewood. You could do custom, species specific bundles for the smokers.

Poplar is good campfire wood. It drys fast. Pig nut hickory has a bark similar to ash. It is very stringy and very very heavy. ' hard tHard to

It may be stringy but that Easton made don't dred it. You don't have to fight with it like you did with the other splitter

Mostly all hickory species are very stringy. I am dealing with smooth bark hickory in the woodyard now and I’m using a single wedge in my Huskee. Very time consuming, but the smoking guys love it! What are your intentions for the hickory splits? Are they 16” for bundles or 18” for your home heat?
