the same is true about the music coming out in those days: New Edition, SWV, En Vogue, Babyface, Guy, Boyz II Men.. .i hated so many things about being a kid, but the soundtrack to those years was phenomenal.
IF ONLY WE HAD SCHOOL AUTHORITY AT THIS LEVEL LIKE MR. CLARK NOW AND DAYS OUR CHILDREN WOULD BE SO MUCH BETTER OFF. I BET YOU HE WOULD NOT HAVE THEM DAMN CELL PHONES IN CLASS 4SURE LMMFAO. TRIBUTE AND HONOR 2 MR. MORGAN FREEMAN FOR DOING A PROFOUND JOB.
He was particularly brilliant in this scene. His acting during the song is genius, and he never says a word. When he hears their harmonies and his demeanor changes from irritated & disgusted to surprised and impressed...a lot of actors would oversell that switch, but he does it perfectly. And he keeps it on that same level as walks down the line, then makes a perfect transition back to Joe Clark and marches them to the chorus room. Small things like that are what separates legends like Morgan Freeman from other great actors. There are a lot of great actors, but only one like Morgan Freeman
Naw you don't.. I had a real life Mr. Clark.. I didn't appreciate it at time because he was mean as hell and I was bad as hell.. but I really appreciate it on the other side of life
Those guys are the best singers on earth. The ACAPELLA when I first hard as a young kid I knew this was the BEST it was going to get and I knew nothing about music behind so young . Here I’m and I still can’t get over it!! The lyrics are beyond BEAUTIFUL and the way they sing it with such emotion and love !! They created a new genre of music(new jack swing) with ACAPELLA which is one of the hardest forms of music to sing. Man black people are GODS chosen.
My stepsister at the time back when my dad was married to her mom, she actually met him years ago and got his autograph. She said that when she talked to him about his character in the movie that the part about getting slammed into the piano was actually his idea to do, and they chose to include it in the script.
I remember 8th grade yr 1989 at the theater with my friends watching this movie. This was the part that we could not stop talking about afterwards 🔥🔥🔥💯. What memories
No doubt. That was a real RnB group called Riff singing. Notice the pun on names in the lunchroom scene when he told his chief detective to "take this Riff raff to my office", when they didn't know the school song? He knew who they were.
In 1989, Morgan Freeman starred in both _Lean On Me_ and _Driving Miss Daisy_. He was nominated for Best Actor in the 1990 Academy Awards for his performance in _Driving Miss Daisy_ , but lost to Daniel Day- Lewis.
He was so proud of them...the performance filled his heart with pure joy. Can hardly find a principal who has children’s best interests at heart these days.
At first it was fear but it eventually became unequivocal respect. That's what is missing in today's school systems. He fought for those kids and eventually they fought just as hard for him
This man is brilliant! He has never disappointed me ever. He is a great actor. I've watched this so many times, I think I know some of the words lol! Morgan is a legend, can't be compared. Absolutely brilliant!
Thank you!!! He was a horrible administrator! So many teacher grievances would've been filed! Where was the teacher's union? I wish a principal would berate me in front of my class! 😁😁😁Nevertheless, this movie is funny as hell...
So you rather have Schools that have Resource Officers slamming black kids on the floors and walls? Or Drugs and Gangs roaming in the hallways and outside? Or teachers being pushed, and bullied by students? Principal Clark turned that School around! Just like Fathers like the Character James Evans of Good Times or Coach Carter played by Samuel Jackson or Denzel playing the Football Coach in REMEMBER THE TITANS!!! THAT'S THE PROBLEM WITH A LOT OF YOUTH TODAY, TEACHERS CAN'T DISCIPLINE, PRINCIPLES CAN'T DISCIPLINE, PARENTS CAN'T DISCIPLINE!!! BUT YOU ARE OKAY WITH THAT WHITE POLICE OFFICER KILLING OUR BLACK YOUTH? You be crying when them kids stand before judge and they getting sentenced to a long prison term. And the school is falling?
At a young age when my mum asked me to go to the movies, only to have the opportunity to watch this movie. I didn't understand until I really understand why . Very inspirational. So many lessons to be thought in there.
Principals can't be struck like the use to now, because of so many rules. Some parents would rather act out when the staff at schools tries to discipline them; instead of doing it at home. Those days when kids got paddled at school; there wasn't all of the nonsense with kids going on and kids respected their elders too
Mrs. Powers doesnt get enough credit!!! To rewrite the school song and make it beautiful like that??!! Then she gave it soul and meaning!! Here's your flowers ma'am!!! 💐💐
Great movie. I just heard of Joe Clark's passing a bit ago, and all I can say is, we need more principals like him in our schools nowadays. I hope his rest is peaceful, and his funeral is broadcast on live tv.
The dark skin brother reminds me of my oldest bro who passed away back in 92 from a massive heart attack at age 16 while hooping on the court....I was 8 at the time....Man I miss oldest bro.....
Joe's not my cup of tea....loved the movie....but would hate to have him as a principal when I was in highschool....Everybody don't need that kinda tough love.....His mean azz ain't motivating me....😂🤣😂🤣
Lool my principle didn't even come out of her office, and one year there was security at every entrance and we could only leave threw the front door at lunch🤣, we even scared one of the Vice Principals off to another school it was so bad, there was even a washroom for rolling up weed, selling drugs, rolling dice, and fighting. Anytime people were arguing and someone says come to the washroom it was time to fight and you couldn't back down
This scene and the movie entirely touched home with me. I wished I had a principle who cared this much but also a father who was dedicated to my success and my future !
This movie need to be praised more. Today school system waste too much time playing politics while our kids are suffering. Every lawmaker and parent won't be satisfied.
Anyone seen how hard Sam hit the door while coming into the class room! Also how he hit the piano and we hard the Bass notes play😂😂😂😂😂😂 #ThankYouMrClark
I just saw this movie on BET yesterday .My 12 year old son saw this for the first time and said " Man That Principal Mean " I laughed because I grew up on this movie and everytime Mr Clark would yell I would jump but had mad respect for him at the same time .I told my son at times strong reinforcement saves lives .So he saw the unprivileged and thrown away teens reaching for success and change . What a powerful movie .Damn that Morgan Freeman so talented .
Just finished looking at them singing this 30 years later and they still sound the same and they look great. Someone shared that a year ago.🔥🔥🔥🔥 Thanks for sharing. One of many fav movie.👍 Be Safe Everyone🌎😷
That's Right 🙋🔥🙋🔥🙋🔥 Mr. Clark wasn't no joke he got them straight up in there. His motto was to shape up or ship out 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. These schools need someone like him to turn it around now. That school song was sung so beautifully by those young men.
