Chad, these are older trees and called "saw logs", lumber (2X4's, etc) are milled from these trees. Younger, shorter trees are called pulp wood are ground into chips for veneer wood, ie., paneling, or paper. Folk in "east Texas" usually consider the western boundary of "east Texas" to be Livingston to Lufkin. Folk in Nacogdoches, Mount Enterprise on up to Longview consider themselves to be in east Texas.
