We all have been asking about reverb for many years now. Other companies have long since jumped on the reverb wagon. Just that with East West technology it’s all seamless integration with the existing Opus East West amazing virtual library, that incorporates with Logic Pro.

@@EWQLTutorials Im having a lot of issues with Play on Ableton Live 12, it seems the AU format is unstable with Ableton. Is there a way to download the plugin as a VST? Thanks!

thanks East West, bought space 2 and hollywood opus edition wow. My biggest wishes is, many many many more midi packets for opus orchestrator and hopefully a opus orchestor big upgrade , features like importing miidi data from daw to opus ochestrator, features like, chord recognition , sugestion chord progression function, and lncluding piano arpeggios in opus / orchestrator etc...........

Excellent vid.......I've always just put the orchestra in one room with maybe a few variants and was always dealing with muddiness. I utilized the ideas here and immediately my mix sounded way better. Thank you Ryan!

I have only scratched the surface of EW Spaces II. Those short strings reverb were amazing; so much 'magic' to unpack in the tutorial, I will watch this one every so often to brush up. I thought compression and EQ were hard, but Reverb is just as intricate of a skill to learn. Lots of things I can use reverb on, if I can figure out these steps. Rick Ruben doesn't know anything about music, but he is the best in the business, because he knows what will sound good, and has a lot of practice at bringing that out in production. It's a skill I need to develop more, myself. Thank You Ryan and EastWest, this information in this video changes everything. I recently started playing with the 'dry' knob on Spaces II, but now I see the 'send' knob is what I need to use. I use FL Studio, so some of these DAW formats lose me, but that's why I need to watch this a few times. Great Work, EW!

Is there a way of turning the reverb off by default on opus?
@twwify
@twwify Месяц назад
Or do u have to switch each plug in off one at a time?
@EWQLTutorials
@EWQLTutorials Месяц назад
From the Settings (gear icon) > Preferences > Other tab you can turn on the 'Load with Effects off' option, which will load any instrument with no reverb enabled by default with the exception of the orchestrator presets

EQ actually brings the various sounds into focus, rather then tightening up the sound as you say. Reverb can also make a mix sound hollow because reverb will cause presence in the sound to become lost when reverb is not used correctly. 🎹

Thanks Ryan. I still do not understand why you use different convolution reverb for every section . The opus orchestra was recorded in the same room so if I put strings in one conv rev and brass on another conv reverb, I would assume that I separate the two sections. Please help me clarify this.
@auralaxiom
@auralaxiom Месяц назад
So, I could write a couple paragraphs here, or just say--it sounds better XD. Ok, but for real, when you use a single convolution reverb, if we're talking "in theory," you'll get the same reflections sampled from the same location in the room. But the strings, brass, woodwinds, and percussion don't all sit in the exact same place on stage. So by using the different IR's that are specific to their instrument groups--or more precisely, where they all sit on stage--you get a better representation of what an actual orchestra would sound like in that space. Yes, everything was recorded in the same room, but it still needs reverb unless you're going for a really specific sound.

I'm not sure if it's best to leave the instrument reverb on while rendering the midi to wave file or to turn it off. I'm a little puzzled.I ultimately i kept the midi instruments reverb when I rendered since I used off the render without reverb but occasionally the sound file is clipped and the sound when I add the reverb isn't the same.

Just a bit confused. Where do I find the stereo delay plugin that Ryan uses on the Uilleann pipes around 28:00 please. I'm about to mix some Uilleann pipes myself, so a reply would be very helpful.
@EWQLTutorials
@EWQLTutorials Месяц назад
Ryan is using the Stereo Delay plugin from Logic there. There are also delays in Opus' Mixer, and most other DAWs have at least some available delay plugin within them.

Is it okay to put the reverb in the master? to imitate a specific place so as not to worry?
@auralaxiom
@auralaxiom Месяц назад
Ehhhhh, not usually. Ozone has a nice mastering reverb, but it's built specifically for that role, and at most I mix in *maybe* 3-4% if I'm using it. That said, if it sounds good...do it! But no, it's not what I'd call a standard practice.
