I happened to see/hear R.J. Ronquillo's RU-vid demo of the Sidejack DLX Pro and, since I own a 1968 Mosrite-bought new-I thought I'd try one. Loved it and, having Gear Acquisition Syndrome, I then bought the "sparkle" Eeo version which I think is closer to the original Mosrite; well, it has the zero fret, anyway. I enjoy playing both versions. I can't really compare them to my Mosrite since I tried to mod it and screwed that up but Eastwood makes nice substitutes, so I'm happy.

That's great to hear, David. Yes, the Red Sparkle EoC version you have is the one I referred to that I played with RJ on. That guitar is the most Mosrite playing one we've done to date... and pretty rare to boot. :-)

Sorry, you'd think I could remember "Red Sparkle EoC" since it's sitting on a stand where I can just reach for it and play. Hey, I'm 75 years old; that's my excuse! Anyway, you folks do the Mosrite right. The TDR Spectrum 5 DLX, too. Love that weirdness!

Nice guitar but no zero fret.

There was a lot of tough deliberation about the zero fret and we did have it on earlier prototypes, but, ultimately, the Sidejack Pro neck works/plays/feels better without one. However, that's not to say that a 'Model T' (Traditional) isn't off the table in the future.

Mike...... what the hell is this "Moss"rite pronunciation?!!! I have considered you an expert on the brand since you've collected them for decades! The man's name is MOSLEY. Long "o" !!! Every video from the day has him introducing himself in that normal long"o" Mosley way. His daughter, Dana Mosely introduces herself and says his name when she advertises or is interviewed. I hear so many people say the Moss thingy out of a lack of skill in engish. There is no second "s" in the spelling, and, Mosrite guitars for years put a dash above the "o" on the guitar stencil to annotate a long "o"! He obviously didn't spell it Moserite because people would say mos-er-rite! Wayne Boatright funded him originally which became the "rite" part of it. I hope this diatribe wore you and some people out.... it did me. I hate corrections like this but just had too... can't believe it......

So if I'm hearing this right, Mosrite made crap, and Eastwood improved upon the crappiness? Well alright. Well I sure hope Ford gives us a better car then those crappy Cadillac's soon.

Nope, you're hearing wrong. We've been making Mosrite inspired guitars for over 15 years, which we'd obviously never do if we thought they were 'crap'. The Sidejack Pro is as close as we've gone to the original Mosrite aesthetics. The changes we've made with ours are to the neck and playability/feel, which is just 'different'. Whether it's better/improved/worse is subjective and down to the individual player.

"Even with new frets, it felt like the guitar needed a re-fret." That's not crapping on Mosrite? Please, give me a break! Not to mention you yourself have proclaimed that the majority of people who ever played a Mosrite either loved or hated them, which is not even close to true. You also said that Mosrites have never felt like a solid guitar, which the majority of people who ever played a Mosrite would tell you they consider Semi Mosley's creations to be the Cadillac of guitars. Yeah, you give some praises here in there, but with all the crapping you two did it came off like you were trying to skirt the line between praise and hate.

You know, thanks for your personal take on it, honestly, I appreciate it... it's educating to hear feedback on what we've said and how it can be interpreted. Like I said in the video, I know Mosrite guitars have a loyal following who would disagree with my take on their playability, and we really weren't crapping on Mosrites. For the record, I'm a huge fan of Mosrites, as is Mike (who's also a collector)... the point I was making (over a beer chewing the fat, don't forget) is that for me, personally, I've always loved the look but found them to be a battle to play the way I naturally play, so I set out to address it. It's that simple, we tried to get the look we love with a different feel. If you have a Mosrite and love it, great, long may it continue. Cheers, Carl.

And that's cool. If it was an issue for you, that's one thing. It just came across more like you too found too many problems and thought you could do better. It's all subjective at the end of the day.
