Easy 3 Ingredient Recipe! How To Make High Calorie Kitten Food Mix 

I'm a vet tech and this is great info for people who live in areas where strays are rampant and reproducing like crazy. I live in one of those areas...and most of my community know my job and come to me with everything they find (usually cats, which are my passion). I recently look in 2 one week old kittens that were abandoned by their mother. I contacted a rescue who agreed to take them in if I was willing to foster them, which I am. I am feeding them breeders kitten formula which is a 1:1 (1 part formula to 1 part water) and one of them is suckling and eating like a champ and the other is displaying symptoms of failure to thrive. She's crying constantly and fighting me during feedings. She won't take the nipple of the bottle, but will take an eye dropper (which is 1ml and super annoying to work with). They're now teething and the siblings are not the same weight. The suckling one is twice the size of her sibling that refuses and fights to eat. I took a 3ml syringe and am basically wrapping a washcloth around her to prevent her arms from pushing the food away and her claws from scratching my hands up. I also have a high caloric meal replacer syrup that I add to her formula. She seems to be doing better with feedings, so we will see soon if she starts gaining weight. Most kittens that are abandoned or taken from their mothers too soon can experience failure to thrive, especially at the 2 week mark. I think this one is going to be ok, but if you ever experience this, contact your vet immediately. Luckily, I am experienced and do this daily working in an animal hospital so I know what to look for and how to trouble shoot it. But for older kittens, this is a perfect remedy! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Good idea mixing wet kitten food & KMR. I used KMR & Gerber chicken.baby food with my 4 week old kitten. Cuddles is a thriving young cat cat at 5yr now.

Thank you for this video. My kitten was a feral cat. She is so underweight and yes she’s been to the vet. Is up to date on everything. But she’s had a hard time keeping food down. I have been feeding her straight baby food. I’m wanting to add some cat food soon. I want to try this

Try rinsing can with warm water and adding that.

I just took in a kitten last Friday and he barely eats anything at all. Very picky but loves Inuba Churu. He is 9 weeks old and is below his ideal weight. Currently, he is only 590 grams (1.3 lbs). I understand the churu is not enough. I will try this trick and see if I can get him to gain some. Thank you for this video.

We give our kitten 1/2 of a can at a time and refrigerate the rest so it doesn't spoil.

The cat/kitten food should be blended better and I always add more fluid than that. I only use liquid kitten formula and that way you don't have to add anything else. I have been raising kittens from semi ferel mommies for 2 years and once weaned mommies are spayed. Right now I have 9 from 2 litters.

Friskise is a terrible brand no nutritional value

You should not be using Friskies it's not formulated for kittens. There are better budget options like Fancy Feast Kitten. Do NOT give kittens, especially underweight kittens, anything other than food specifically for kittens!

That food is rubbish…junk food for cats…it’s much better for them if you make your own cat food…and putting dry formula in it is far too concentrated. They need proper nutrition, not just bulk.
