Prefect for the sand and beach where most people get bogged. Now I just need a beach tree, car lift to untangle the mess and a second job to buy one or do I need 2 because of the way a diff works?😎

It’s a great idea but I can see a problem (that can be easily fixed). The problem is that the two sides of the ladder want to come together, which could lead to the cable going around the drive shaft. The solution would be to put a solid step between the two ropes where it joins the strap going to the tree.

What? Why? When you have open diffs the "lifted" wheel (or the one with no traction) is your winch. With that you create a resistance to the spinning wheel which will cause that the same amount of the power of the resistance will be used by the other one. If you HAVE diff locks it doesn't matter because same wheels are turning with same torque and power. So what's the point? What you try to say? The only 2 cases in which you're right are: 1) absolutely NO traction on both wheels of this axle. Possible...but when? On ice maybe? Doesn't matter. 2) if the power on the other wheel (as much as the resistance of the "winch wheel") is not enough to get out. Also veeeeeery seldom. You need many bad factors that combine for such a bad outcome. Especially because there are many simple possibilities to increase the transfered power. Sandboards, traction snaps, chains...whatever. If it will NOT work (because you chose the wrong wheel) try it on the other one. This case is possible when you didn't check or realize which wheel is the one without or with less traction. It WORKS. Others do exactly the same with "bush winches" or with towing straps. -Me too. It works pretty well. Have you ever tested it? Why do you believe it will NOT work?
