Two years ago I found a big carton of pool noodles and another big carton of foam pipe insulation for sale at Goodwill. Was 133 noodles in all. Bought them all for $9. Best score EVER at Goodwill. Now I can build wingsssss.
Wow! Your obvious joy and enthusiasm for this project is infectious - thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and talent - some people might want to keep such a great idea a secret for themselves!
This is a really cool and cheap way to make wings and its light enough for a child to wear all day. Thanks for sharing but PLEASE wear a mask when dealing with those chemicals you are heating up! We need you to last a long time and teach us some more :) ;)
Your video was awesome, I was able to use this method to build a singular wing for my sons Halloween costume. With about 40 hours of work my family was able to pull off a really good rendition of Sephiroth from Final fantasy 7. Thanks again for the video.
Hey brother, nice project. Just be careful when using high heat and melted foam. It could cause toxic fumes that can be very harmful. It really wouldn't hurt to use a respirator when melting foam or even spray painting indoors. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the tip, and you are right- polyethelene is not that terrible unless it gets hit by an open flame- thats when all the real bad stuff comes out. I also have a really well ventilated shop with two industrial air scrubbers.
I work at a Michaels and all our custom framing comes wrapped in essentially this foam. A former coworker made a “mother goose” costume, using the foam for the feathers. It turned out great, I had never thought to utilize that for anything but I have a basically endless supply for free if I ever need it.
So nice to see someone who thoroughly enjoys what they do. These are magnificent! Of course the color and feathers...or not would be determined by what the costume is. Such a great idea. Thank you. You have done some really great things. 🥰👍🏻👏🏻
I live in Australia..not big on Halloween here but we love it and you are my absolute go to for easy, reasonably priced Halloween ideas. I have made several of your projects. Thankyou for sharing you're bloody awesome mate!
Those are fricken awesome! I did a twisted fairy godmother one year for Halloween and those wings would be awesome for the costume. Now I may have to revive that costume again with these kind of wings.
HEY I had Batwolves - If a vampire gets bit by a werewolf and a zombie they become a batwolf! after seeing this as a kid! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FR48hmAbo9Y.html
just a FYI, i paint cars as my job, and ALL bumper covers come wrapped in a very similar plastic wrap, at least 7 or more feet long by 7 wide, and any body shop would be glad to give it to you instead of filling up their costly dumpster with them, also they probably have loads of doors and the like ,full of 12 v dc window motors and cranking hardware ,& lock actuator motors you could repurpose to make creatures move, and the LED'S, the list goes on, if you ask nicely and don't make a mess of their shop, they would likely give them to you for free , maybe a shout out to the shop on youtube now and again ,lol
Have you seen some of the awesome stuff WillowCreative has done? They made that awesome articulated wolf mask that went viral a few years ago, and they regularly make extremely realistic wings and cool mechanical costume pieces. I feel like you two would like each other!
I am so impressed with your imagination! I am making wings for my Cthulha and you came to my rescue! I am using your antler recipe because my monster is stationary and doesnt need to move. You are a genius!!
Oh my ,,,,,,,you are the man !!!! those are the best wings by far, I’m sooooooo glad I found you ,I’ve been watching your videos one after another, not only your talent but your creativity is like no other ,,,you truly make things come to life , it is an honor to watch you ,
I love flying monkets! Anything with flying monkeys is so hard to find. Super great job on the wings. You look so pumped up wearing them. Keep on doing these great videos, please!
Um..... you're my new favorite youtuber. How creative and fun... the way you teach is very accessible as well. Thanks for all the great ideas and insight!
Love your creativity! You might enjoy using a Fiskars cutting wheel (sewing notions) for simple shapes like the feathers. Quick, and no hand-cramping from extended use of scissors.
I’ve been making some crude dinosaur legs using noodles like these and was wondering how to best glue the jointed sections together. The solution was right under my nose. Thanks for sharing.
This was the first time that I have ever watched one of Your videos. I love it!!! I did like and Subscribed!!! I look forward to seeing more of Your videos! Thank You for sharing Your talents with Us. These wings are Beautiful!!! You did a Great job!!! 😊👍🏼👋🏼
WOW! gonna make a couple sets of these! my wife needs them for her Maleficent character and me ... (no flying monkey jokes here) gonna put them on my d&d character (a Gorilla with wings)
So awesome I think I'll try making this for my Daughter Julie she said something this past summer about wanting wings for a costume thanks for sharing Bro.
Awesome!!! I wished I'd found this video before I made mine. I ordered black feathers and glued them on the wings you get at Wal-Mart. Even though mine look nice. It's not the impact that yours give.
Sea creature- translucent jellyfish with leds for bioluminescence and lots (and lots)of tentacles moving around with a fan? Could be as awesome as those wings! So light and airy, fantastic job!
Ok this is just awesome! This material has so much potential. Funny thing is your making corn video was in the suggestion list while I was watching this and I thought "Yep it would work for that also." Great video Allen.
Looking to make an Angel of Death for this haunt season and I keep coming back to this video - the wings are awesome! Have you noticed any failure of the joints where you used heat to glue them? I figure mine will get a lot of use/movement. Thanks for posting this!
Dude you could even put a mechanism on it so the wings could pivot in the back with a drawstring or something up front so you have a standing spread pose lol. I love it man. And also with that stuff you could make individual feathers more detailed with like a wire stem and heat glued together to do a more detailed placement of each feather. More strength in each feather... I wanna come make stuff with you so bad lol. Hope that didn't sound creepy lol. Keep it up
Love your creative work!! Your channel & video’s are so inspirational. In the UK though pool Noodles are solid foam no hole in the middle. Therefore a similar product for Uk viewers would be pipe insulation covers and sadly they only come in grey 🫤.
