This is definitely a great gift idea! I am a beadweaver so I already have all the materials so why not give it a whirl! This looks like a fun project & I can't wait to do it
I loved your tutorial!!! Several years ago looking at other videos, I decided to learn how to make barefoot sandals, but... felt so frustrated trying to decide which was the kind of thread this other person used, because of not much explanation according to materials used that I just did two pairs and gave up. After my 2014 summer vacation on the beaches of PR with my family I decided to come back to Illinois and do more for my daughters, sisters, nieces and even for my 4 year old grand daughter, so I decided to start looking up for more tutorials and woohoo! I found yours. Love the way you explain everything. You did an awesome job. Thank you so much!!!
I am really bad at any kind of craft, but your video makes me think I might actually be able to do this! Thanks for making it look do-able. I am going to make a pair for my daughter-in-law's birthday.
Cameo Vlogs YAY!! I am so happy that you are going to make some! My girls love theirs. They make such great gifts. :) Thank you for watching and giving this project a try.
I LOVE my barefoot sandals that you made for me for my birthday mom! They look soooo pretty on me and make me feel beautiful when I walk around barefoot! :D Thank you sooooo much!
Wow .. TYVM for this video I Love how easy it's going to be to make ur barefoot sandals. I watched several other videos but they were very complicated patterns ... I don't have time for that. I'm trying to make as much stuff as I can for my daughters b4 I pass away. Even though the Dr's. r giving me a couple yrs., I don't really have time to waste SO AGAIN... TYVM I THINK UR AWESOME 😉😀!!!
Thank you SO much Jill! Your comment means so much to me. I wish I could reach through the computer and give you a HUGE hug. Your daughters will cherish every gift you make them and it will always be special. They will feel your love in everything you create for them. I am honored that you chose to make this project for them and that you took the time to comment. YOU are awesome and whether you know it or not, you have touched me too. For that I am truly grateful. I know you will be blessed every day. Lots of love to you dear Jill. OXOX
i've made a few barefoot sandals myself and im pretty impressed with myself but mines have latches in the back i will try the way you've done yours though they look cool.
Thank very much. :) I have seen these before but for some reason I never thought about making them until I was asked to. I was so glad it was suggested to me because they are so cool. haha A big hug to you too. :)
My friend took her vows again on the beach in the Hampton's last July. The bridal party (I was her maid of honor) was to be barefoot just wearing these sandals. We used this video to fashion 6 pairs, all differently decorated. They were so beautiful and I didn't want to take them off.
That is so awesome!! Thank you so much for letting me know that this video helped you. That makes me super happy. I know they were beautiful. I love wearing mine too. Don't they just make you smile when you wear them? Hehe :) Many blessings. OXOX
Those are beautiful and simple! Thank you! It's been awhile since I've been able to watch one of your videos and I'm so glad I caught this one! You are still one of the very most beautiful families I've ever seen!! Love(another) Kimberly :•) from Canada.
It is so AWESOME to see you Kimberly!! Thank you so much for your lovely comment. :) I am glad you were able to watch this one too. hehe It is always great to hear from you. Love and hugs to the other beautiful Kimberly I know (you). hehe
Those are really cool and I like the colors. I just don't have the patience to make those. I would start out making them and then I would get distracted and start doing something else. If I wore those, I am sure people would take more notice of my really white feet before they noticed my pretty barefoot sandals. lol Thank you for sharing. :)
Dear EasyMeWorld, Its a weird but awesome idea. I especially liked the part where your boys imitated their sisters. It was very funny!! Ha ha ha!! I keep replaying it and I will stop watching them when they stop being funny. But, I don't think that's ever going to happen. :) :) :)
Thank you so much Ximena. Really? Yay!!! I will have to make a video on how to make the matching flip flops. It sure seems like something fun to do. hehe :)
your family is gorgeous, cute boys . Must ask where do you live your pool and view. are nice also . God bless . oh yes keep uy the good work . nice sandles. your kids are blessed .
Hummer Klein Awww thank you so much Hummer. You are so sweet. We live in Tennessee. I am so happy that you like the sandals. Many blessings to you too. oxox
I love these! I always wanted to try making a pair. Great job, Joni! Joni, thank you so much for the wonderful shout-out! That was a wonderful surprise. You rock Girlfriend!
Thank you Liz. :) You will love wearing them. They make you feel so pretty. hehe Every girl likes to feel pretty. :) You are so welcome for the shout-out. I love your jewelry and all your projects. You have such a lovely channel. I always look forward to your new videos. :) You rock too! hehe
Dear easymeworld, I love your videos and how easy they are! I really love macrame plant holder things and was wondering if you could do a version of that in a video. I think that would be really cool for the summer! Thank you bye!
Thank you very much Bree. :) I love the idea. I will have to practice how to make a plant holder before I make a video. I have never made one but boy oh boy I have seen some really pretty ones. They look like fun to make. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your idea and your support. :) It means a lot to me.
Thank you for answering my question. My next question that i have is do you have video's on how to make jewelry with spider wire?? I'm first tine trying to learn how to make jewelry with spider wire??? If you could share links that would help me out alot. Thank you.
Anthonia Farfalli Thank you. I am glad you like the tutorial. I actually have heard that before and I am like... REALLY?? hahaha It never would have occurred to me. It makes me giggle. Who would have thought? LOL
That is so easy to make love them . : ) My grandkid's will love this idea : ) I will try to make one day they are so cute but for me i would do for a clasp i would put a button on the end : ) so i can take for and on if needed to, that is the only thing id change , i love them thanks for sharing : ) Have a great summer crafting : ) toni g.
Thank you so much toni. :) I love the idea of a button or clasp. Perhaps I will think of a pattern using them one day. It will be great to experiment with. Since I was making most of my sandals to give as gifts, I thought tying them would be easier since I only had the size of my foot to go by. hehe It is almost like a one size fits all by making them tie. :)
i have a hard time with some things you did.the middle string (red) you have more than one string. can you help me with the strings. i ended up with 3 strings. also when do the strings for the side i dont understand. is there any way you can write them. please i love them . i need a pair for myself. help
+joane Mcilwee You can double up on your strings if you want your project to be thicker. I am not sure how to write this down. I mostly use the simple square macrame knots for this project. Maybe it will help to look up some other step by step pictures online. I hope this helps some. Thank you for watching. I hope you can figure it out.
Aniya Durham I have seen the barefoot sandals made out of the loom bands. They are very cool. I will have to practice with my bands before I come up with an idea for a video. I love your idea. Thank you so much for your suggestion. :)
Could I have the WRITTEN pattern please ? ....Since I am French , I do not catch each words ...and some words are peticularly important lol....but having them written in front of me , as i go along , i will sure make it easy ....Thanks a lot !
+Juliette Benoit I am not great with patterns but the main knot that I used was the macrame square knot. Once you get the hang of it you wont need any instructions and you might be able to make up your own patterns and come up with your own ideas. Thank you very much for watching and the question. OXOX
***** Hi Sunya. I am so happy you like the video. I am pretty sure that the beading cord that I used for the sandals was size 18. The cord I used is not marked and I cannot find the receipt for it. :( Here is a link to the people that I bought it from on Amazon... Beadaholique... www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_pg_2?rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Anylon+beading+cord+beadaholique&page=2&keywords=nylon+beading+cord+beadaholique&ie=UTF8&qid=1430664493&spIA=B00T3N3H8C,B00JKQJZ56 I hope this helps a little. Research the sizes to see what size you might want according to the bead sizes that you want to use. Thanks so much for the great question.
You can certainly wear them with a decorated pair of flip flops. I do. :) This is a great craft to make and they make beautiful gifts. I really like making them. :)
Julie Brown Hi Julie. I have used spider wire for my beading projects before for my beads but I never tried it with the barefoot sandals. The only part that MAY be noticeable with the spider wire is the 4 knots between the circles on top of the foot. You will be able to see the spider wire clearly there. No pun intended. LOL Give it a try and see how it looks. I would love to know how it turns out. Thanks so much for your question. I love to try different kinds of materials for all my projects and sometimes they surprise me. So don't be afraid to try it. :)
Hi I half made one last night with what I had for supplies, however I had trouble understanding exactly where to place the knot for the toe ring. I ended up with uneven strings on each side by too much. Can you give me a better idea of how to make it a bit more even. Thanks!
Carolann Puzio When I make the toe part I only offset the knot before the braid a little more than what would go around the toe. It doesn't take a lot to make the toe part. No more than 3 inches would be my guess. It is hard to explain in words. hehe Find the center and move over about 2.5 or 3 inches and tie the first small knot. Then braid the LONG side enough to go around the toe... make the loop for the toe and then make another knot to hold the loop. When you measure your string for the sandal, give yourself extra if you feel unsure about how it will work out. Once you get the hang of it than you will know how much string you will need. I always think it is better to have more than not enough. I have come up short before though. I simply make a small knot to add more string on the side that I need it. The knot is barely noticeable most of the time once I work it in. I hope this helps. Thanks for the question. Let me know if you need more help. :)
Fortino Carrillo Hi Fortino. I am going to copy and past the answer that I gave to someone who asked this question before.. hehe "When I make the toe part I only offset the knot before the braid a little more than what would go around the toe. It doesn't take a lot to make the toe part. No more than 3 inches would be my guess. It is hard to explain in words. hehe Find the center and move over about 2.5 or 3 inches and tie the first small knot. Then braid the LONG side enough to go around the toe... make the loop for the toe and then make another knot to hold the loop." I hope this helps. Yay!! I am so glad that you are making barefoot sandals.
***** I used all different sizes of beads. I used glass beads, gemstone beads and even seashell beads. I got some beads at the dollar store too. Use what you have and what you like best. :) I am always pretty care free about stuff that like. I just have fun with it and mix it up. hehe Use whatever will fit on your string. I hope this helps. :)
Laurina Rodgers In the video I show you how to measure the top of the foot for different sizes. At about 5:20 into the video I explain how to measure. I hope this helps. Thanks for the question. :)
+Lee Ann Chrisco Hi Lee Ann. I am not sure of the number crochet thread because I got my crochet thread at a yard sale so I did not have the labels on them. The kind that I used was one of the thicker spools in my collection. Sorry that I couldn't give specifics. Thanks for the question and for watching. :) OXOX
