Thank you so much for an easy-to-follow tutorial. The results came out great. One thing I did find is that if you are trying to do a textured background (say, a seamless pattern or whatever) instead of a gradient, the background remover gets confused. But for a gradient -- simply marvelous and something I'll be using a LOT!!
You're welcome Julia! Yeah may not work all the time for something like a textured graphic and it may be best to use frames for those kinds of things or create your own frames. I was hoping when Canva made all the updates a few months ago that they would make text gradients an option. I'm sure in time they will add it. Appreciate the support and feedback!
great tutorial, useful for book covers. Canva's BG remover didn't do a great job at it when I tried, so I used photopea instead as there is more control over what gets selected with that. Everything else works as you demonstrated
I even used this to make a “gradient” text from a picture of an onyx stone to form a logo idea for my marketing firm. Works beautifully most of the time lol
THANK YOU!!! I found your video months ago to use this effect for a project. I just went to do an update and couldn't remember the last steps. Googled and your vid popped back up and got me though. SO EASY! Thanks for making a really useful hack super easy to accomplish and understand. :)
with all the text effexts they offer and no graident? EVERY graphics program has a gradient text option. Its a good tut, but wow the work involved for something that should be really a click and drag. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
Right? When they announced all the new stuff a few months ago, I was expecting gradient text to be one of the new features but here we are! hahaha! Hopefully soon! And you're welcome, always glad to help. 👍
You’re welcome however it’s an old video and it’s easier to do now! Just type gradient in the apps and you’ll see a new app that creates gradients faster and easier. I’ve been meaning to update this video 😊
I followed your tutorial to a T, but every time I try to remove the background at the end, it says "background not detected." Any workarounds you might suggest?
You're sssooooo welcome! Not sure why they haven't added this yet but I'm not complaining as this video is getting views! hehehehe! Thanks for taking the time to comment. 👍
I have followed everything you have done, but I've realised when i remove the background, the letter at the beginning always has a corner almost smudged or bitten off it seems, its so weird. It doesn't come out normal. So lets say i did the text Race … the R would have the corner of the letter smudged or slightly indented and it really is noticeable. I am creating a logo.
Hi Ahmad, that's very peculiar as I've never experienced that before. My initial thought is that it might be happening when you use the background remover. Try a bold font and make it really big so you can see for sure and it can also be that the gradient you are using isn't a good fit. Let me know how it goes.
@@MonzonMedia What I've realised is you need to have a much bigger template when doing this. Logo template or anything smaller you will run Into issues.
You're very welcome LaToya! Glad to hear it was helpful and I appreciate the support! Be sure to check out my playlist on Canva 👍 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ueYofRQWENk.html
I wouldn't see why not? You would just have to use a Chrome texture instead of the gradient and follow the same process. There are also pre-made chrome text sets in elements so be sure to check there too 👍
hey! so for the removing background step (the free version) it just removed the gradient background for me and not the text's itself. is there any solution to that?
You might have to try another gradient, or saturate the Color more and give it some contrast. Alternatively you can use the other background removers linked in the description.
Hey there! You just have to click on the image, click on effects (FX), there is an option to called BG remover. click that then volia! ☺ Let me know if you need anything else. 👍
Hey Adam, thanks for checking out the video. Guides and rulers can be enabled by going to File>show rulers & guides or short cut key=Shift+R. As for the work area, it's just a blank project at 1920x1080 dimensions. You can use any size you want. I only used this dimension so it shows well on video. Hope that helps!
Technically you don't have to export it once you've gotten the gradient done. However you will have to repeat the process for different words. Of all the updates they made, I was hoping that they would make "gradient text" available. Maybe in the near future?
All my Canva tutorials are on this playlist however kind of outdated but should still be useful. Will be doing more recent ones soon ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-byYEGWkOMY4.html&ab_channel=MonzonMedia
