Okay so your really old PVC bow videos was how I found your channel back in the day. Man I was a little kid, I'm 24 now. Such a nostalgia trip I always love seeing an upload from you.
@@federalpumas6018 His first pvc bow videos aren't on the channel anymore, he privated a lot of his old videos. Eli was like 14 when he started uploading. Pretty sure his first pvc bow video was almost 9 years ago or something.
This is great timing since my home depot started selling 2in hardwoods a month and a half ago. Walnut would look pretty damn good. Thank you for doing the leg work with these videos, seriously. I like messing with things but can't afford as much trial and error. You give me a more advantageous starting point for my screwery, and your hoodie is still one of the softest things I own. On multiple fronts, thanks again.
Turn over a stone or two and find a sawmill or lumberyard near you. Their wood is straighter, prettier, more exotic, sometimes cheaper and they sell offcuts!
If you’ve made it what’s the length between the holes where the pvc goes and the mechanism? Cause I made one and strung it but I can’t pull it back enough to put the actual string on
The main difference between CPVC and PVC is the range of temperatures each is capable of withstanding. CPVC can handle temperatures up to 200° Fahrenheit, while PVC peaks at 140° Fahrenheit.
Chlorine is added into the mixture of CPVC to increase the Temperature it can handle but it also leaves it more prone to cracking and becoming brittle over time.
it's not heat that's the issue in a bow limb.its cold.the forces applied on limbs under tension are insane.then the fact that those forces are applied to a brittle PVC due to cold temps is disaster waiting to happen.
Now this is one Classic ZNA video. A powerful, simple piece of craftsmanship for pretty easy cash. Love to see it, might actually make this thing this winter
Still rocking my gray zna hoodie too, especially when in the garage doing projects 👌🏼💯 Also, you may be using basic materials but your craftsmanship has progressed so far.
If you're looking for more project ideas, I'd suggest a staff sling; it's basically a handheld trebuchet. It'll chuck tennis balls (or big nasty pointy rocks) hundreds of feet and make cool whooshing noises, all for the price of a broomstick, 4 feet of paracord, some duct tape and grommets for the sling, and a couple of files. (You could make a much nicer one with a leather sling and some carving.) If I had made mine all at once it would've taken me probably 2 hours and I had no idea what I was doing to start. There are also some great youtube tutorials by lindybeige and others. Loving your videos!
Sweet man! Saw Backyard Bowyer make a longbow with PVC and driveway markers a few years back. Made that and it's about a 40 lbs bow and works great. Now I just need to try this out!!
The couch arrived in two boxes four days early, which was great because we'd just moved into a new house and needed places to sit. My son and I put it together pretty quickly ru-vid.comUgkxitRzxya-XugamYgLwa_2G1gxPg4MCJHa . Another reviewer suggested inserting the seat into the side and I'm glad they did as the instructions weren't clear on that matter. It's incredibly light and slides easily across the wood floor, making it easy to move. It's firm, but comfortable. It will even be great to nap on. I got the gray, which definitely has strong blue undertones, but I'm okay with that.
from the reverse draw home defense crossbow to this was quite the journey. we went from clamps to ballistae to joerg sprave style to this. even after all this time not much has changed and it's comforting. man what a ride.
Man I have been watching your channel for years (just checked and the oldest video I’ve watched According to RU-vid is 6 years old but I swear it’s been long than that) this is the first video I’ve seen in at least 4 years and i brings me so much joy to see you still making homemade weapons. Thanks for the years of content, and keep it up man :)
I feel like the "fake ending" is an overused trope in RU-vid and I usually groan when I see one, especially because people like to put it in the first 3rd or middle of the video, but this one genuinely made me laugh hard. The builds are great, but I really do keep coming back for your sense of humor and comedic timing xD
I made one of these as well literally Eli just improved on a wiki how crossbow design, no shade being thrown because these are actually really good crossbows.
Hey Eli just wanted to say I've loved your videos for like 4-6 years man. My favorite build was the kanabos and wondered if you thought of using u-drive screws in a possible "rebuild". Keep it up man ❤
Holy crap man, i'll admit i haven't watched a video on this channel in a while, even though i'm subbed lol. Like seriously, last time i was here i think you had less than 50K subs and i remember you struggling after youtube changed their policies and weren't allowing you to monetize your vids because you were building home made weapons. Man you've come a long way dude, i'm glad you're still around and i'm glad you found sponsors to help you keep doing what you like.
This is crazy, I love you so much ZNA, been watching for like 6 years now, remember you going through your home struggles when you were buying it, I remember you getting whipped. Thank you so much for being here with me since I was 12… lots of love!
Hey for those looking I think the crossbow length is around 40-45" inches this is because the stock is 20" to roughly the middle point of the crossbow. Much love guys. Let me know if this helps!😄
so I've been watching your videos for years now, and ultimately inspired me to start building all sorts of definitely safe things (totally not dangerous). but among them are a functional assassins creed hidden blade, bow and arrow, and a pvc blow dart gun ("super impressive" yes thank you I know) just to name a few, but what I'm thinking about more is when I built my crossbow. I did mine almost exactly the same except mine was a pallet support board to start. i also used a single 1" pvc pipe but without the fiber glass cause I was doing this all in my backyard. I like your trigger method much more as well. with mine, I just carved a "cliff" into the stock where i wanted the string to sit. next i drilled a hole straight through the center of that "cliff" where I put a peg in. that peg went through to the bottom side of the stock and I screwed a small hinge piece next to it. so ideally, you'd press up on the "trigger" (that hinge), which would push the string up and out of the "cliff" releasing the string and taking the bolt with it. I had to take the arms off after I was done with it due to the lack of fiber glass rods. the front of the stock had a notch cared in it to fit the pvc pipe, and the string was held under light tension by two screws that was placed towards the front of the stock. so to take it off you simply pulled the string over the screws and it would come apart....I like your method much much better. your nails are acting like my "cliff" did, only mine was into the stock. I did a smaller one that also used the cliff method, but used a lever to left the string out and over that cliff. my love of building stuff eventually started into a bladesmithing business I did out of the house. doing leatherwork, metal work, as well as custom knives and sheaths, sadly I haven't done any of that for about two years because I enlisted into the US Navy. and I'm currently stationed in guam. I love the great work keep it up! I apologize for the long comment as well.
@@ThePolarBear Yep, expensive. I think it's also very difficult to get in larger sizes, but realistically, you can flow more through by running at higher pressure, so that's not such a big problem.
Really cool build! Only thing I think it could use is a metal foot stirrup to make it easier to prime. Maybe like a metal tool hanger hook kinda thing screwed into the end?
I was thinking the same thing, adding a foot stirrup to the front seems like a really simple upgrade that would keep your face well away from pulverizing distance
That was legitness! Awsome work of art. With the weapons and armor you made, your pretty much on your way to becoming ready to kick evil butt for the lord. I would help too. I got a nice blad collection myself and I can make arrow heads out of spoons. I hope that one day i will have a house and alot of backyard space so I can build a blacksmith and wood working station like you have. Thanks for another wholesome video Eli. God bless 😉👍
Since your last video, I got a job working at Lowe's. Watching this video makes me wanna make a crossbow again, and it's going to be very easy this time around because I have my own money, and can actually buy all the stuff in this video at the place I work. You really are tempting me, and I might just make a crossbow one weekend
Honestly in cases like this it's really really worth it to put a fiver or maybe ten bucks into a hardwood offcut from your local furniture shop, sawmill or lumberyard. Doesn't have to be tropical, a native hardwood is perhaps even better. It's all in the materials bb. Great vid as always, going to give this one a try. Pro tip from an old employer of mine: teak wood bat. make it thinner than a baseball bat, dress to taste. light in the hand and hits like a fucking train. looks cute too.
I learned the driveway marker trick from the Backyard Bowyer, made his no heat PVC longbow that I had tons of fun with. It doesn't compare to a real bow, of course, but it's $10 vs $150. I am planning a trip to lowes.. but I'm after a curtain rod. I have a spear head that's been needing a shaft forever.
Honestly haven't seen this guy in like 4 years. It's a great feeling when some OG youtubers pop up on my feed and are doing well. I wish you the best man.
I always love your videos and builds always something cool and your comedic and so humble you are just and absolute joy to watch merry Christmas to you and yours
Eli I have been watching your channel for years now, and every time I come here I feel like I’m seeing an old friend. I love your content bro, keep up the good work
A cool project to return to would be your thrasher bracelet that you made a long time ago. Revisiting it with your new leather working skills could be neat
Do you have that one friend that you don't see often but when you see each other you just feel like the friendship is just as strong or even stronger than the last time you met? All I'm trying to say is that's the kind of relationship I have with this channel. I come here every couple of months and I just feel like nothing changed, still same old hella funny and epic Eli. Love you a hecking lot man, and keep being yourself!
Bro i have been watching you since i was a little kid, ur channel is so underrated, i watch alot of crafting and building videos i am subbed to you but never see your vids in my algorithm i hope u get what u deserve bro i would love to see you have millions of views great channel bro keep up the good work much love
My God that was an awesome video. The quirky comments, the attitude, the ability to make a light humor joke about not getting something right the first time. The craftsmanship and rudimentary build that looks like something straight from the medieval era... and it WORKS. Personally I would have gone with PVC or schedule 80 PVC. The CPVC has extra chlorine in the polymer to make it more resistant to chlorinated municipal water supplies and has a bit higher heat rating but is softer and more pliable or flexible, so less stiff, than regular PVC. Regular PVC might be more ideal for better tension a and velocity. PVC is also generally cheaper than CPVC unless you get up to Schedule 80 but that's where it gets harder to find and you'll have to shop online. Schedule 40 is the standard with schedule 20 typically being larger diameters for drain lines and waste water and schedule 80 being for higher pressure commercial/industrial applications. OR for PVC electrical conduit 😉. Anyway definitely a like and sub after seeing the *almost* bulletproof trauma plate video. A little tip for that one, something I'm gonna personally try... I'll comment on THAT video because this is going to be a lone one..
I haven't watched you in years and was looking through my subscription list but just ended up looking up how to make a bow and arrow because either remembered that video
The things I would most like to see are forged ax/war hammer(maybe wrench’s), atlatl, sling/ sling shot might be cool, war club maybe like Sokka in Atla, boomerang, trident/ harpoon, and I have had the idea of a whip/ Baton kind of like you put some large nuts weaved into some rope so you got a very flexible baton.
I remember watching this video years ago but I didn't have the tools to do it. I've been getting a tool kit the last few months and now I have everything I need, so I can actually make one now, will next week after I've been paid
