This is the only chicken curry recipe you will ever need. Easy to cook chicken curry for beginners. Who dosen't like chicken curry with potatoes ?!!
CHICKEN ALOO CURRY
INGREDIENTS :
• Oil - 5 tbsp
• Onions - 4 medium roughly chopped
• Green chillies - 3-4 chopped
• Ginger garlic paste - 2 tbsp
• Tomatoes - 2 medium chopped
• Salt - to taste
• Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
• Jeera powder - 1 tsp
• Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
• Red chilli powder - 1/2 tbsp
• Chicken curry cut with bones - 1 kg
• Potatoes - 2 small cut into cubes
• Water - 2 cups
• Garam masala - 1 tsp
• Coriander - handful chopped
METHOD :
• In a pan add oil and let it heat up.
• Add roughly chopped onions once the oil is hot and keep sautéing till the onions turn brown.
• Once done, add green chillies & ginger garlic paste. Sauté for a minute.
• Next add in roughly chopped tomatoes & salt. Cook till the tomatoes are mushy.
• Add turmeric, jeera powder, coriander powder & red chilli powder. Cook the masalas till you see oil separating . Add a bit of water if the masala sticks to the pan.
• This process will take atleast 5-7 minutes.
• Next add in the chicken & potatoes. Sauté on high heat for 10 minutes.
• Lower the heat, add in 2 cups of water & garam masala. Mix in.
• Cook the chicken & potatoes for 20-25 minutes with the lid on, stirring 2-3 times in between.
• Once the chicken is cooked, taste for salt and adjust accordingly
• Add chopped coriander.
• Serve with Chapatti, Roti, Naan, Bread or Rice!
