The USDA no longer advises rinsing your chicken. It spreads more germs that way. If you cook your chicken to the correct temperature you should be ok. Someone can fact check me but that’s what I understood when I read an article.
As long as it get up to temp for at least 15 minutes the cooking process kills all harmful bacteria. If you still desire to rinse chicken, just know that you're spreading chicken ickies everywhere the water splashes as well as into your sink.
The USDA says you don't need to wash meat or poultry. Its already been cleaned during processing. I know there are folks out there that don't believe anything they say but my sister was a supervisor at a Tyson chicken processing plant and she said they are very strict when it comes to processing chicken. She also said they (USDA) didn't have a problem shutting down the entire line for any tiny infraction. So I believe my sister when she said its cleaned.
@@vincenzaperriano876 Well, you can believe or not but, I am going to believe my twin sister who worked as a supervisor there. And while I agree the government is not normally your friend, my sister was much more than a friend. She would have gladly taken a bullet before she would ever tell me something that would hurt me so, if she said it, I WILL BELIEVE IT!!!
When I asked I was told with chicken you were washing off salmonella because some people react to even deadly salmonella bacteria and get a stomach issue. I was told with beef you wash it in case it had feces on it from the slaughterhouse, but if it goes to a butcher. I’m sure they wash it before they cut into it. Doesn’t make sense to me either.
Kevin!🥰💞💞💞. I absolutely love seeing your beautiful cats! This recipe looks so good! Your videos make my day. Thank you! Have a wonderful and blessed weekend, everyone. 🌼Deb from NC
I have always rinsed off Chicken and Pork under the faucet before cooking. Beef no, but my eating habits are different now and I don't eat much meat anymore.
Honestly hun, I still wash my meat (not hamburger or any ground meats). It's just a rinse off of the juices that it sat in while in the store package, plus any random bits of bone shards that could have wondered in. And coming from someone who has worked in the food industry, I highly recommend it.
You have some interesting commenters, first they say you should wear gloves while cooking then they say to wash your meat?? I’ve never done either and no one has ever gotten sick from my cooking. And I’m sure you can say the same. Btw, this dish looks delicious!!!
My mama is clapping from the grave. "Washing chicken" "How do you wash ground beef?" I am on the floor laughing. Keep it up. I guess there is woke cookin' now.
I will say for myself i do wash all meat i have to cuz it plays on my mind all those illnesses. But i would never tell someone “you have to do this” its your prerogative to do what you please. So you be you girl. 😜
I have never washed chicken. It's not necessary, and it spreads raw chicken where it didn't need to be. Whatever they're "washing off" will get cooked off when cooked properly.
I agree! Me n my husband use to rinse the chick off for ovr 30yrs bt NVR clean or wash. Then we heard ur "not" pose to so we stopped doin that by sumtimes we still do out of habit. Bt we dnt go out of r way to!
Thank you soooo soooo much for all these chicken ideas! We are a huge chicken family here & im always looking for new ideas. I love your recipes because everything is in one pan…thanks hun & I don’t care if your messy, I think you are just being yourself….love watching you doing a taste test & slappin the counter top 😅😂
Girl, you are a treasure! Please don't even worry about "washing" chicken! Lol! My mamma and grandma (we called her Memudder, lol) would be like what in the world is washing chicken?! 🤨🤣 Don't ever change honey! ❤
Kristien love your cooking !!!!!!! An I've never WASHED my MEAT 🍖🍖 I'm still alive and Cooking ,just keep doing what you've been doing I'll be making an watching you cook. 🍖🍖😊❤️👍
Hi again from Quebec Canada. Being a kid in Montréal, meant I had friends growing up from many different nationalities and I remember going to an haïtien friends house and the grand mother was "washing the chiken"! While singing , she first soaked it in vinigar for 10-15 minutes and then rinced it under cold water while rubbing it 😊 Voilà washing the chiken
I have a feeling that people who say to wash chicken, mean to rinse it under cold water before preparing it. To me, I don’t know what it could possibly do except people who do this say that any bacteria on the chicken from our hands, the store, or in the preparation of it is cleaned off. Well…if chicken has bacteria on it, in it, whatever, rinsing it under cold water ISN’T going to help!! I’m not sure, but I’d think the cooking process would kill any germs/bacteria. That’s what I’VE heard. No idea which is best to do!!!!!
Lol anyways my friend worked at chicken place she use to tell me make sure I rinse my chicken off cause they don't clean it off and they will drop meat on floor.when you said someone said wash your chicken I laughed it reminded me her saying that to me lol
Never wash your chicken or any other meat. It only spreads the juices to your sink. Just wash your hands after handling meats. That's as unnecessary as the glove police! You are doing just fine.😊
Kevin was feeling neglected after yesterday’s video where he was missing.🤷 No cat likes to miss out on what’s happening, right? Yummy recipe. Thanks for sharing.
Exactly ✌..people are so stupid bc they said to not rinse chicken off now bc of the water splashes contaminating. 😜 Thts how much people pay attention! 🤷 SMH🤦
Kristin I do rinse my chicken under water but then you have to disenfectant your sink since you have to worry about samonella. Some people do wash meat but not ground beef. O was reading the other day that slaughter will dip or plunge the chicken in chlorinated water so unless rinsed you are ingesting chlorine on that chicken. Its because of the samonella worry over chicken. You do you. Somebody os always going to have something to say about something you do. Cooking heat destroys properly cooked chicken unless under cooked.
Yessss! All these channels on yt r always making recipes with chicken. which i luv bt we need more with other meats. They rarely make any with hamburger or steak or pork chops! She doz have sum with hamburger on her channel.
You don’t need to wash meat. Unless it is a beef roast that is very bloody you can briefly rinse it under cold water to get rid of the excess blood. Most meat doesn’t require washing before you cook it.
My husband is a butcher for 40 years. He is retired now. He always has me wash our meats. So it’s a habit (old). I don’t do ground beef. It’s Kinda hard to wash/rinse ground beef. I want you to read something I googled that might help you understand. It’s all good 😋 love your videos!!! And I adore your cats. They are precious 🐾🐾💙
My grandmama and mama was always just rince it off with water because they say in the Chicken if they drop it they just put it right back in the Im like u I don't do it though I figured the heat is going to kill any germs anyway
I just found your channel & love ur style of cookin & humor. Im going back to watch some of your older videos too. Clean hands are definitely the way I cook too. But I'm Old School about handling raw meat. I rub all "cuts" of meat clean under cold runing water, not ground meat. Especially pork, chicken & fish. They get a slimmy bacteria film on them that alters the flavor & smell. I suppose if it is cooked "well done" all that bacteria dies, but there is no denying the difference in flavor. And no, I hate the expensive, so called aged beef, it just taste rotten to me. Also to save money I try to buy meat on sale which means it definitely needs rinsed off, cooked same day or froze. Also when i brown my ground meat i add water, no oil, which pulls off excess fat, then drain, which gives off a better meat flavor & less cholesterol.
Wash it with water and after that dry the chicken with a paper towel after that but some olive oil and flour and wait for 15 min wash again with water after that you can put it in a pot with lemon cut's and yogurt you can freez or use it at the moment or use it day after that's the meaning of wash it According to what I know, the chicken needs to be cleaned because of the salmonella Thank you for making things easy
Washing chicken is no longer recommended. Do wash your pork though because the bones splinter when the butcher cuts it and you really don't want to bite down on one. Those kitchen police are just neurotic.
But either way? Do what you want to do with your family. People shouldn't judge how you do things. We can do our way in our home. But you did ask about washing the chicken so that's why I gave you a description. Do you😅 enjoy what you are doing
