Shout out to my love who helped me out with this project too, I'm learning things as I go so he's guides me on these little projects I have (because he literally knows how to do everything lol) Thanks for watching!
Those guys are a rarety these days! I grew up with these kind of men, and I'm quite handy myself, but have had a hard time finding someone who can match up! Lol! 😅 You take good care of him, I'm sure! ❤️
Perfect! The old wood can be seen by all and its legacy is intact thru aesthetics. You guys did a great job. Careena you never cease to amaze me. Glad to see you guys working together to repurpose really old timber.
I have a local sawmill that does all exotic lumber. I went up and got a nice piece of Jamaican wood off them for a coat rack. This was before live edge so i couldnt make it live. But it still turned out great and still in use today.
Hello @TimberMates; This is the best video ever. You have: 1. Skills 2. Strength 3. Muscles 4. Not to mention good looking 5. All of the above = pretty awesome Thanks for sharing.
Really wow I’m from Southern Ohio we have a lot of it I didn’t know that it’s basically non-existent there but yes black walnut and cherry and red oak are my favorite to make live edge out of
Live Edge Projects are so cool! You seem to enjoy woodworking. Will you be building a woodworking shop someday? With your sawmill it could become another source of income.
Oh I'm not nearly good enough to run a shop but we did think of doing a day at the local woodworking club with our mill, they wanted to run a program with it. Might be pretty cool to do for them
That planer does a good job for a 120-volt unit even though it was maxed out for width. That was the perfect slab for this project. You'll need to make two more. One for your new house and one for the houseboat. 😀
Haha thanks Rosy, yeah it's a great little planer, does a pretty good job. Oh I cannot WAIT for the projects we will make for our house and houseboat!!!
Digging the product placement for Canadian Tire gear. We have a couple pairs of those folding sawhorses. They sure come in handy. What part of the great white north do you folks hail from? Southern Ontario for us.
Beautiful project. You both are creating some great content with both of your channels. But, Safety Sammy here, PLEASE wear a good respirator mask when sanding, even outdoors. That sanding dust is very damaging to your lungs.
I liked the 8/4 live edge slab , bit unfortunate about the funny looking chocolate milk spalting on the lower portion - did it run all the way through to the other side ? and are the cool looking coat hooks from Lee Valley ? ( I think that's where I've seen them before ?) Cheers :-)
Thanks! yeah the water damage went right through, but I think it gives it character ;) Coat hooks are just from Amazon, the crews that came with it are absolute garbage though lol But they looks pretty good anyways
Concerning clogs Careena, dislike seeing you get lax and get hurt when foot wear is so important. Seeing a disregard for personal safety among too many wearing senseless clogs or flipflops that do nothing to protect one's feet
LOL!!! Why so serious 😂 Its a very simple project made in the comfort of my own home, and I had just worked hard on a tree job all day and I was sick and tired of wearing my workboots, That is a very OK thing for me to do LOL
