I struggled with whether to release this video today, knowing that in Ukraine right now, peoples lives are being torn apart, families that may never see each other again, homes being destroyed, hatred being kindled. I am so thankful for my freedom and I believe every human has a right to live in peace. If you are a person of faith, I’d invite you to join me in prayer/positive energy/whatever you believe/ that this conflict could resolve and people could live in peace.... and be able to do the small things we take for granted like building an armor stand for some foam armor.

beautiful thoughts! It is all a crazy time, so it is actually nice for us to have something decent to watch... thanks!

@@SeareanMoon So true, my eyes are tired of seeing painful things..... I do wonder if we all got off our devices and sat down and started making and creating, perhaps we'd start to see a better world....

Totally with you on the sadness of war… when there are talented people like you who make beautiful and fun things, it seems like too many hands are holding guns when they could be doing things that bring joy. You have a big heart Chris ❤️, and I’m sure there are people in distress all over the world that your videos lighten their day.

I know this is an old video and it's spring now, but it would be awesome to see a short fantasy like movie of you wearing your armour and "fighting" in the snow. That would be so epic! We never get that much snow in the UK.

This might be exactly the thing I need to display my samurai armour. (actually made from steel, so it's kinda heavy)

This is great I'm looking to make a proton pack stand, this might work, a guitar stand won't work because of the alice frame gets in the way.
@LostWax
@LostWax 2 года назад
Yep, it probably would work, might have to make some adjustments, but that wouldn't be hard.

Love your reviews (and the new look!). My biggest struggle as a maker on a (veeery tight) budget is finding the best and most useful materials for whatever project I have in mind. So these videos always come in handy. ☺️ thank u for ur work! I hope you're well

Thanks! That's really cool! I've been looking for something just like that myself. Too many sets of armor and I only own one mannequin. And that you extra for posting a positive thing. I needed that.

Awesome. This gives me the idea taking your armor and stand and making bodies for a Herman Munster and Grandpa for some masks a company is going to soon release. Probably going to have find a female mannequin for the Lily though. Thanks for your work

1. I think you could use PVC pipes if you wanted it lighter, or the other way around fill the metal pipes with sand to make it heavier (more sturdy, maybe?) 2. they could have notched the longer section of the connector to add the shrink tube, it shouldn't need to be exactly half a cylinder all the way through 3. you could use sandbags or weights at the bottom, but your idea of using hockey tape looks amazing! Loved the idea! Thank you for sharing!!! :)

Thanks for sharing. I recently started following the company on IG & was debating buying them. Your video gave me a lot more info that I needed. I DO have 2 questions - why not just make a 'box' for a base ? Would think that would be more stable ? You basically had a 'box' for his head, & that was easy to build ! Also, why did you do two cross pieces for years hips ? Would it have been too jnstable with just one ?! More of the twisting an issue there?! I make sculpture with p.v.c. which is cheap and easy, but can see switching to these for a larger sculpture I have in mind that needs the strength.
@LostWax
@LostWax 2 года назад
Those are two great questions! Yes, I could have done a box for the base, in fact that's what I had originally drawn up. I went with the two bars instead because a) it uses fewer connectors, and b) then it gives an end to put the rubber foot onto. Otherwise the stand will be resting on the connectors- fine for carpet, but not so great for a wood floor. As for the two cross pieces, to be honest I am not sure why I used two instead of one like I did in the smaller version. There would be the slight issue of the possibility of twisting, but with light foam armor it wouldn't be that bad. I think I thought it would be necessary to have another piece there to help hold the leg armor straight so it wouldn't twist inwards. But after making the smaller one, it wasn't an issue.... so yeah, I think you could totally get away without it.

While PVC Piping and fittings are a bit cheaper than metal ones, they aren't going to nearly as heavy and resistant to damage. I think I would have personally gone with PVC for this kind of thing, but I can see how that pipe could used for other projects, especially something that would require a lot more structural integrity. It could definitely be used for outdoor structures that may face harsh conditions.
@LostWax
@LostWax 2 года назад
Yes, PVC would definitely be cheaper, especially with the price of steel right now. A little floppier though.
