Easy Crochet baby Poncho tutorial for beginners (1 to 3 year) 

This is locally manufactured crochet hook which is approximately equal to 2 or 3mm crochet hook size. You can use 2 or 3mm for this project.

110g of 3ply yarn for this size. For other sizes you just need to add multiple of 4 chains in the beginning, and make more rows according to your required size. Hope you get it.

I have 3ply yarn. Just measure the head size of baby and make base chains according to measurement or you can make it an inch bigger in size as well if you want a deep neck. You can also use recommended size chart. 1to 3 year 8.5 inches circumference 3 to 5 year 9 inches circumference 6 to 10 year 9.5 inches circumference. Hope that helps. How many chains should be taken for an adult

Make 10.5 or 11 inches circumference or 21 or 22 inches long chain, yarn thickness differ some times so make chain according to measurement of 21 or 22 inches. Hope it will help you. Stay connected.😊

You said you are using a 5.00 MM, hook. It looks much smaller, and 102 chains with a 5.00MM hook would be too large for an infant. This is very confusing. I realize, now. You are using a steel hook. Are the sizes different? Even so, 5.00MM, is the same steel, aluminum, plastic, or wood.

It's a local crochet hook which is actually equal to 2mm aluminum crochet hook in size. So you can use 2mm or 2.5mm aluminum crochet hook.
