This is probably the best, most helpful gardening video I’ve ever watched! Such a simple, straightforward plan. I can’t wait to try it this year! Thank you!
Thank you so much. I’ve wanted a cutting flower garden for my own use and have a 3x6 ft. Raised bed. It’s so helpful to have the succession schedule. I know how to do that for veggies and now your generosity has encouraged me to try it with these flowers.
First time viewer here. I must say I've watched this video 3 times and took notes on everything. You're such a good teacher. I appreciate the fact that you went step-by-step step with the diagram, the whys and whens about timing and height, and your recommendations for your favorite varietals. I'm subscribing to your channel because I'm still a relative newbie as a flower gardener.

This is the only cut flower garden guide I've ever tried and it has been WONDERFUL!!!!! I cut five vases full today for the first time.
This is most helpful, clear, and concise video I have seen for cut flower beginners (me!). I have been planning my first cut flower garden and have been a teensy bit overwhelmed with where to plant and how often and how much I could even grow in a raised bed. I can’t begin to say how helpful this is! I would love to see another 4x8 beginner bed with just filler plants and foliage for bouquets!
Every year that I’ve gardened I get more excited about the flowers than the vegetables. I learned the hard way that cosmos can be a bit invasive when left alone, and zinnias will always have a place in my heart for being so generous and easy to grow. I just had my fourth baby in December and got it in my brain at the same time that I should start a cut flower garden. I was about to give up but this layout was just what I needed! Thank you! ❤
This was really helpful. My daughter is only 5 but loves picking flowers from the garden. I am trying to get a cut flower bed for her this year and these were some really great ideas. I also had no idea mum's could be perennial!
I find it hard to leave space blank in the garden but you have encouraged me to do succession planting with flowers because the first flush of flowers is always the best. Great advice to mulch the empty spots so that they are ready for planting when the time is right.
It is so hard!! You can absolutely fill it in with things like crimson clover or buckwheat to help feed the soil (and those can create some beautiful blooms as well)!
I will totally do this! I was just wondering how to start a cut flower garden but felt a little overwhelmed, the spacing is especially useful because I’m prone oversow everything lol
I garden in zone 9 on wind swept Atlantic coast Ireland. I was trying to sort out my very first cutting garden. Thank you for your guidance and instructions they were extremely clear. ❤ M
This is the best tutorial I’ve watched on cut gardens!! You taught this so well, thank you so much!! I’m in Zone 4 and looking forward to trying this in the spring/summer!
This is a very helpful guide for anyone growing a cutting garden and wanting blooms through the summer. Thanks for making it. It's helpful it's in my zone too, but should work for anyone who keeps an eye on their days to maturity in their zone.
I’m planning on starting a cut flower garden next year, so I have been watching every video I can to learn and this one was SO helpful!! Thank you for this!!
I had to stop and subscribe before the end of your video. I'm already thinking of where can I steal some space to give this a try. I tend to start seeds inside but I always find myself throwing some seeds here and there during the season. This video reminded me of how important it is succession planting! Thank you!
Thank you for the breakdown! I’d love to see a perennial version. I’m in zone 5a and often my direct sow gets knocked down by snow mid summer. I have frost cloth but don’t always get r done. I’m doing this in a new spot! Thanks
Your videos have been so extremely helpful to me! I learn something new every single one! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! I have grown a cutting bed the past two years and now this has given me some ideas along with the more advanced one that you did for doing some different things next year! I would love a video about the actual logistics of succession planting. I feel like I have some knowledge gaps, like if I have enough time in the growing season, could I clear a spent "square" of zinnias that I planted in a more "summery" color for a more fall color if I start them inside? I hope this makes sense. Thank you again for your knowledge and willingness to share it!
You're such a sweetheart for sharing such valuable tips. I deeply appreciate you taking the time and interest in sharing your tips, tricks, and flower picks. I have wanted to grow a flower cutting garden for several years but haven't been able to. I recently moved into a house in Upstate NY. We are in Zone 5 and don't have a lot of space to grow food, let alone a flower cutting garden. This information got me excited. Thank you so much! Happy 2023 gardening.
I would love a similar plan but in the horizontal format instead of the vertical you did in this video. I am VERY new at cut flower gardening as in this is my first year attempting some cut flowers. 😅 Also, LOVE this video it's SUPER helpful!
This is exactly what I’ve been looking for!!!! I tend not to start small, I squirrel, and then overwhelm. You’ve made it easy to understand and doable. I love that you don’t have to start by seed with this plan! If you had to approximate- how many bouquets do you think this is possible to make- just thinking about gifting a cutting garden on church grounds to use as our “floral budget” and wondering if I won’t need two beds at some point. See…always thinking bigger-ooof!
THANK YOU SOON MUCH for doing a cut flower garden planning video! Love how you are explaining the layout on a grid WITH succession planting info. I grew cupcake cosmos last year, and they are hands-down my favorite of the year. Such beautifully delicate-looking shape and color!
What a fabulous video! I am so impressed with your simple, straightforward and informative approach to sharing gardening information! Thank you so much🌺
Im starting a cut flower garden this year amongst our vegetable garden, and this IS SUCH A HELPFUL VIDEO! Thank you, thank you!! What great information. I feel like you just saved me from so many missteps.
Thank you for a great instructional video! My friend is new to cut flower gardening and wants to start a cut flower garden. I will be sharing this with her!
I am new to following your videos, big mistake! You are what I have been looking for; educational, experienced advice. I binged on three of your starting seeds for cut flowers this morning. Fan in Bozeman, MT
Ahhhh I'm am so overjoyed I found your channel!!! I am ready to binge🙈 This will be my first year and I know almost nothing so thank you for your kindness to share all your knowledge over the internet
This is the first of your videos I have seen. Thank you for such a clear, easy to understand and replicate, complete plan taught in a very approachable method. Even being new to cut flower growing, it looks completely doable. I'm going to check out more of your videos.
Wow! What am amazing video! This was my first year exploring with a cutting garden. Your video was the most informative and intensive that I've watched! Love your content! Thank you!!!
This plan is SO easy to follow! i will definitely try a raised bed with this method :) love that the planning is easy and concise, and doesn't require seed starting!
how did I not find this video last year. That was the first year for me trying a cut flower garden and it was underwhelming. I got some nice flowers, but not all that I wanted it to be. THIS video may be the game changer for me. I don't have a 4x8 bed but I can adjust using the square foot method. I' excited about trying this. I do have some perennials in there that I don't want to pull up this year so I'll just work around them. I already have most of the seeds so I'm excited about trying this! Thank you for this...very clear instructions!!
Hi Bri, this was amazingly helpful! Thank you so much! I live in Arvada and have been planning my first "official" cut flower garden for this year :) Looking forward to checking out your classes too!
So much helpful content! Amazing and just in time for planting my flower seedlings (zinnias, cosmos, sunflowers)! Next year I will try to direct seed which will save a lot of space and time. Instant subscriber. Thank you!
You are number 1 with me.I love your direct get to it style. You are certainly a professional. Love your color palette too. Your videos are teaching me things and I’ve been gardening for 50+ years Thank you!
I'm so happy I have found your videos. This one is so helpful. I'm from Ukraine and have some land, losing my job gives me an idea of a cut flower garden. Your videos are so helpful and easy to follow. thanks
Thank you! This was so helpful! So clear and easy to follow. I am excited to give it a go once my backyard is less of a construction zone! Thank you, thank you, thankyou!
Thank you! You have made this older lady's brain stop hurting by doing this! Love your videos and your big heart for sharing such valuable information! Question for you...what is the botanical name for the mums? I went to Bluestone perennials website, their instructions are to keep pinching up until the 4th of July. Your mums do not look short and super full like regular mums, but longer. How are your growing your mums? Are you pinching as they recommend since yours look so long.
I have a small dahlia group on FB for our area here in Michigan. I have a lot of beginners so I shared your dahlia 101 video. It was perfect how you covered all the bases & included all the information about leafy gall & imports. I went through quite a few videos & went with yours. There were dahlia growers in my group that were already familiar with your videos. I just went and found you on FB myself.
Oh my goodness! I’ve been subscribed to your Instagram for a while and never wondered over here! This is the BEST video ever!!! I’m just dabbling in cut flowers this year and was feeling very overwhelmed with the planning of it all (I focus mainly on food production for my fam, but wanted to try selling some easy bouquets to help pay for some of the homestead expenses) this makes starting SO easy!!! I have room for about 5 of these sized beds, maybe a few feet longer than 8… I would LOVE a couple different bed plans like this that are easy to start and easy to tend, with different flowers so I could have a few different bouquet styles! Thank you thank you thank you for these videos!!! It takes the confusion WAY out of flower growing ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you!! Putting together a shopping list now! Could we get a picture of your faves? I want to do what you have proven and figure I can change it up later once I get the method and infrastructure figured out. This is sooo wonderful!!!
This is going to be my guide when I start my direct sowing in my very small bed. Such a great video to help me realize that I can have a lot of flowers even though I do have a small bed.
Best video I’ve seen for starting a small-ish flower garden. I’m always lost on what to do and give up, but this is perfect. Hopefully I’m not too late for my zone since last frost was a few weeks back. 😅
I would love a plan for a native plants garden! I know it would be different for different regions. It could be edible or floral natives, or pollinator supporters, but I would eat those plans up! Thanks 🌼
I have downloaded this video to come back to. Am more a veggie person but do have a soft spot for flowers but hardly grow them. Thank you for the tips on getting organised. As I have always been a chuck in and see person but am seeing quickly in my big veggie garden that this is not working as I end up with tall cover crops and I always want to let them grow when I should be cutting them😅
The mums are a game changer. Been wanting to invest on heirloom or florist mums. Would love to see your list of mums that you grow and maybe recommend aside from the two?
I really want to grow cut flowers in my new home. I think I will plant your exact garden here, as I take time to learn more. Thank you. It took a lot of guess work out of my first year. Will see how these do!
I love this video! You gave me great information and now I finally could start a flower garden. I needed this direction since I did not know how to start it. Thank you!
My issue is rabbits and squirrels they got all my sunflowers last year. I love that you're in a similar freeze zone, I can't plant like zone 9 climates.
Hi from the UK 🇬🇧. I absolutely love your videos! They are packed full of useful and very clear information and instruction. Thanks to you I have made a really great soil blocking mix and I am just learning all the time. I loved this video. Thank you so much for taking the time in putting it together for us. I will be implementing this bed into my garden. I’m zone 8-9 so I’m hoping this will work well for me. I’d also love to see a plan for flowers that like part shade part sun if your able to do that it would be awesome as I don’t have a big garden and I do have a lot of shaded areas. Many thanks Helen. 😊
This was a great video! I am attempting my first cut flower garden this summer and those are the flowers I had decided on because they are my favorites as well! Thank you for all that information! I would love to see more like it and am subscribing! ❤
You cannot begin to imagine how happy you have made me! I have dreamed for YEARS about pulling this off but have always been a little reluctant in moving forward because of "the unknown." This is so straight forward and obtainable. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!❤❤
Thankyou so much v helpful . I am a flower farmer in the UK on a mission to spread the flower word so am running little pop up workshops for the first time . Am going to steal some of this .xx
Chrysanthemums do great in the Seattle area! I have grown mums in containers for several years, the same containers they come in at the nursery in the fall. The larger sizes have survived in containers, but the smaller ones always die off. I also read that they have a better chance of surviving if you plant them in the ground as soon as possible so that they have time to root in before freezing temperatures.
Thank you! I’ve been gardening for decades, and this is one of the most concise, helpful videos ever! I can’t wait to try this! More please! Pest management?
