Looks like a superior product for durable protection of natural wood surfaces! And I'm sure it's WAY better smelling than what I use on my trailer decking😅
Looks great! Your past is similar to mine. I grew up in California for my first 20 years then moved to Kentucky. I’m all about that DIY. Your house and deck color choices look perfect. I’m in the middle of building a tree house for my kids too, and I’m about to use ready seal pecan for the deck boards. And I also painted the posts and joists black. Those color combos look so good to me. Great work!
Thank you so much Jeff for stopping by and telling some of your story. It is really cool that through YT we can cross paths like this. Pretty neat to be able to share a bit and see/learn what other people are doing. You know, there is one thing that I think would make this platform really cool but I could see why some wouldn't want it. It would be cool to be able to share pictures but, I guess there are other places to do that. Thank you for being here and your projects sound awesome!
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience with this stuff. Applying it to my new deck tomorrow (hopefully). Take care and stay safe! By the way, your house is awesome!
I am not sure it is the longest lasting however, I would surely take the ease and lack of sanding and the ability to just recoat as needed over a "paint" type product that peels. I thank you for watching and wish you luck! The wood really soaks the first coats so be prepared!
Interesting video. I did enjoy it. I don't know if I should be thrilled or bummed out at how easy the old deck stain came off. I've been using bear 501 deck stain for 20 years and just recently did a project with ready seal. I'm not sure I would ever use ready seal on any deck as the longevity doesn't seem to be there. The product I use stays on the deck amazingly well. I have a 3700 PSI pressure washer and just recoated a deck that I had stained 6 years ago with this product. After pressure, washing 80 to 90% of the stain was still on the deck. I felt pretty good about that.
You know, it all depends on what you are wanting to achieve. I would certainly like longevity to be a bit up but, the ease of installation is key for me. As you can see, I can never find a time where pine needles or leaves, critters etc are not a threat to a different type of stain. Thanks for watching and sharing!
@@oakiewoodsman I stain right through leaves and pine needles. They are falling while I stain. Never is an issue. I just don't embed the needles and leaves while the stain is drying
I plan putting it on a deck that is partially over the bay about 4 ft over the water. I hope it lasts at least a yr. Do you think there is a max temp to apply it? I’m in Florida in the summer. I just had a new deck built & according to the moisture meter I have 10% moisture in the deck. Most say 15% is ideal to start covering. I have zero shade & need to get it covered.
I would be lying if I were to advise on this. To me, just my opinion, I wouldn’t worry about the humidity much. I would just try to apply before or after direct sunlight regardless of temp. Hard to make things perfect when you need to get a task done.
Appreciate it man. The cool thing is that I should never have to get down and chip and sand before refinish. I am going to recoat here again shortly in preparation for winter.
@dvanhottie no it is natural light oak if remember correctly. When I show the can with the roller and blower on the ground, I think I zoomed in on the color code. Thanks for watching!
I honestly forgot. I am fairly certain I cover all that in the video. First I time 1 coat, this time I kept coating till it stopped soaking it up so quickly. But again, I show the process in this video.
@@oakiewoodsman thanks for answering me. I'm looking to buy a light color between golden pine or light oak ? My fence is new and I’m thinking the best option !
