Watch me doing a DIY bar kitchen island, using budget products from Ikea. I’ll show you how I easily DIYed a bar in my kitchen, on a super tight budget. Follow my step-by-step tutorial and DIY an Ikea bar for yourself.
If you follow me on Instagram @homebymonn you know that I visited my friend Kate and she had this beautiful bar in her kitchen. And I want to do the same thing in my kitchen. I’ve never had a bar and I feel like it’s the perfect place to have a coffee, lunch, or even work.
The plan is that the bar would lay on the window board on one side, and on the other side it would have one leg.

Hi Mon. Great video. I do a bit of woodwork. The first sander you used is an angle grinder, they spin crazy fast and are very dangerous! Everyone use gloves when using an angle grinder. An orbital sander is much slower and safer and also doesn’t mark wood because of the way it moves! Take care all!

Pardon the pun, but you set the "bar" quite high for other RU-vid DIY content creators. It's a beautiful piece. I'd never have guessed it's so inexpensive. 😊

I would not glue the board for that can be hard to remove without damage the window part, I think one or two screws better for you can often cover those holes, but it is a lovely build that inspired me to build something like that at my window bit a tad bit smaller. Thank you.

Here's the thing I didn't really explain in the video.. Beneath the plastic board, there is a marble window board, but it's really damaged beyond repair (it's brown instead of white). So If I were to screw it to the board, I would have to screw it in the marble, and that would have opened so much work for me, since marble is not that easy to go through 😔 That's why I decided to glue it instead.

... i mean.. this is super renter friendly! ..and am i wrong in assuming that i could pretty much just stop at 6:50 and not even "attach the legs" due to that it's going to be fairly stable w/no littles around, eh? But i can see the value in doing so, and taking a few extra minutes to do so.. back to renter friendly, i would need to def skip the gluing to the window sill.. This is perfect even as a computer desk. I love this! Thanx for sharing with us, your idea!

Yes hahaha but you should attach the leg so it's super sturdy. However, you can find another solution instead of gluing the top to make it renter friendly 🥰

Love the idea! I probably would have attached if diffently, but depending on the material it should be okay? I wonder what it would look like if the entire window sill was made of the same wood 🤔 Also, your curly hair looks really cute!

I didn't address this in the video, but, the reason I glued it, is because beneath the plastic window board, there is a marble board, that's actually damaged beyond repair, that's why we had to cover it in the first place 😞 However, if I were to screw it, I would have to go through the marble, and that's why I decided to cut myself some slack, and take the easier route 😅🥰
