How thick would the concrete be?

@@anthonybryantmedia with those dimensions the shelf should weigh around 22kg. As long as it’s supported well underneath, you use 40N concrete and you’re not placing to much weight on top, you could probably get away with not reinforcing it with steel. However there would be no harm in adding a couple of lengths of 8 to 10mm lengths of steel rebar along the length of the shelf. It depends on how precariously your shelf is placed. If you’re going to have it over a stair way of somewhere it could be easily knocked or there will be kids walking around underneath it or nearby, you may want to reinforce it just to be safe. But please make your own judgement, because I have no idea where this will be placed or installed and who much weight will be placed on top etc… The above should give you and idea of my thoughts based on your comments but not taken as advise.
