Thanks for this tutorial! Speaking from experience, acrylic paint needs no pre-treatment on t-shirts. I'm thinking of going out in my kitchen and trying this on some scraps of denim fabric I have here. ~Bon

You can add fabric medium to acrylic paint to make it stick to fabrics better! And then it's also washable and such

I've learned this technique with Wax and that works better cause it's easy to remove rather than waisting water or something, but your pattern came out really good!

This is pretty cool. May have to experiment and give it a try (when the weather warms up). I bet it would be so awesome if you used green...it would look like the veins in leaves.

Now I can finish my project…..I am using the fabric to cut into book covers for the journals I design and create. Thank you for sharing🥰

this is great - if you are not going to wash it the acrylic paint should be fine. If you plan on using it to wash or be less prone to fading you can add fabric medium - its sold with the craft acrylics - then the color will be more light/wash fast. But I need to try this technique thanks Nik!!!!

This would be awesome to replicate that marbled look that’s so fashionable, and since it’s acrylics you can even use gold and a variation of black and gray tones. I’m thinking on trying this on a pink fabric to get that rose gold marble look. Thanks for sharing, I’ve never seen this technique before!

I remember me and my friend doing this many years ago at art school. We used the oven in the school kitchens for drying the fabric. If we didn't keep a close eye on things the fabric would singe, which (providing we caught it before everything went up in smoke) added additional interest to the finished fabric. The flour and water paste also worked well as a resist when dripped, piped or painted onto fabric.

Well, acrylic paint, once it dries, kind of turns to plastic, so it's insanely difficult or near impossible to remove, so it's fairly permanent.

Good Morning. This video came up on my home screen this morning. But I can't see WHO'S video it is on my bedroom TV. Then YOU came on. I should have known something THIS CREATIVE was you. I don't know HOW you dream up all these cool ideas. But I like your channel cuz its always very different than anyone else's. You run the CRAFT LABORATORY!!! I love to experiment too. WTH,...let's try THIS. (My favorite method). I love Batik. Yes I made some in 70s, in my Crafting class in HS. What ever happened to that thing? Sure wish I had it NOW!! Seems junk journal people would love Batik. This is way easier than melted wax. This seems pretty messy,...but like the best hamburgers,....the BEST are MESSY!! Flour & water are CHEAP, and everybody has some in the pantry. I'm sure you can use other dyes, like food color, instead of Ritz, yes??? Of even skip the dye part all together. Just get "veins" on your fabric like it is. I'm gonna try using a piece of an old bed sheet. Thanks for the sharing. And for the COOL idea. YAY! Austin, TX USA PS - I received Amazon order yesterday with more spray acrylic. (I've been using it to spray over watercolor papers to seal.) So I'm ready to try the Faux Glycene paper. As soon as the RAIN STOPS! Keep experimenting. We'll be watching.

I just happened to look at my phone and here you were. I love how this looks Nik❣️ This might just be the first project I try when I get back to crafting. I seriously don't feel like doing any now because my tremendously loved and adored husband passed away very suddenly last week 😭. This was the first time I even picked up my phone since Jan. 12th. Take care and Stay Safe 😷

Please accept my sincerest condolences. I am a fairly young widow (11 years gone) and can relate. Please allow yourself to grieve however YOU need to, not anyone else’s idea of how you should. I can attest to the therapeutic power of crafting and pouring my pain into creating. Be well... I am so sorry for your loss 💕

Eileen - I'm so very sorry. I lost my husband in a car wreck 18 yrs ago. I was 33 at that time, our daughter was 10 months old. Like April said, grieve how YOU need to for as long as you need to. Some days I created and other days I break-ed, (as you know) until one day you wake up and can finally breathe again. Know you're in my thoughts and prayers. 💕

How did you remove the wax?
@lorikendrick5076
@lorikendrick5076 3 года назад
@@sherrifredrickson2509Paint the cloth with melted crayon. Whatever you wanted. When finished, wad the cloth up to create the crackles and dip it into a bucket of dye water and let it soak. Then take it out to hang and dry. Last thing was ironing it between newspapers until the wax was out. Just keep replacing the newspapers until it's finished.
