An easy DIY Satin Cap Tutorial. This type of design is gentler on the hairline, according to my own experience using it, versus an all round elasticated one. I also have a slip stitch tutorial within this one, since you'll need it.
You can get the pattern for this bonnet here - www.etsy.com/l...

Thanks so much for sharing this tutorial! I love the idea of not having elastic the whole way round the cap. I aim to make one this weekend! Thanks again ❤️

You're very welcome ❤️❤️ you can also add tie straps if you want, to adjust tightness incase the elastic ever gets loose

You made a wonderful video. Easy to understand & follow. Thank you! I just learned the reason behind wearing sleep caps & I'm so excited to make & start wearing one to see if it helps my hair problem!! The reasoning behind them sounds logical. I wish I had learned of them sooner.

Good day I just wanted to know if I wanted to make the bonnet bigger, how would I go about it in reference to measurements?
@SewStruck
@SewStruck 3 года назад
Hey, for the top, you'd make the radius of the circle bigger. If it's the band, then you'd increase the elastic.

Hello, I really enjoyed your video. I will surely make bonnets that are great for the hairline. It is a lot of time involved . . quality material is so important. Would you ever use velvet? Is it gentle on the hair also?
@SewStruck
@SewStruck 3 года назад
Hey, thanks for your comment, silk or satin are the best. If you'd like to use velvet, make sure its on the outside only, and the lining satin.
@vale501
@vale501 3 года назад
Thank you. I will stick with satin and silk. Do you have a problem with them falling off your head?
@SewStruck
@SewStruck 3 года назад
@@vale501 Actually yes at times, I've been thinking of adding straps too for tying, that way I can control the tightness while avoiding falling.
@vale501
@vale501 3 года назад
Then maybe elastic on sides? I really like how so far it has turned out.👍🏼
@SewStruck
@SewStruck 3 года назад
@@vale501 that's a good idea, I haven't tried it on the sides, but I did try tightening the original one at the back, although it became a bit too tight for my comfort, that's why I was contemplating straps to control tightness, though they would be optional. All the best in your project))

One question. Is there a reason it's two layers, not just one of satin?
@SewStruck
@SewStruck Год назад
Hi, yeah, it's so that the inside can have the soft right side of satin as well, and you can also flip it either side.
@cathleenaudrey7723
@cathleenaudrey7723 Год назад
@@SewStruck Got it. The wrong size of the satin isn't silky smooth.

Thank you for the great video!!! Can you please tell me what the band measurements would be for the large bonnet? Also, could you do a tutorial of you making the large gold bonnet? Thank you for your talents and for sharing it with the world!
@SewStruck
@SewStruck 3 года назад
Thanks for your comment, the only difference for the bigger one will be the radius. I used 6 3/4 for the one in the video, but for the bigger one you can double that, depending on your preference. That's really the only difference, as you will gather it into the same band as in the video.
