I’ve never been attracted to making journals. I just don’t get why anyone would spend so much time on making one…then what? You all seem to enjoy making them then they sit around, stacked up in a pile. I’m here to learn how to make the texture pastes and how to apply them. That said, I applaud you for putting so much time into creating them. I enjoy watching ‘Treasure Books’ vides as she has suck a pleasant voice, because she gets right down to teaching us, because she is filled with tips and finally, because she has no annoying music playing that often makes it hard for me to hear what is being said. I also find music distracting. Thank you for sharing your knowledge & experience with all of us. 👏👏👏👏👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🥰🥰🥰🥰

PLEASE do not take this as a crazy person’s post…but, if I were a man I would be in love with you! You are THE most amazing instructor on RU-vid. You inspire, entertain, encourage (yes that’s different than inspire), and instruct at 100 % perfection level. Now after all that I say a humble thank you and God bless your willingness to spend so much time, energy and honesty on all us subbies. Blessings from Betty in Ohio.

You've just changed the game on textured paint. I'm so glad you'e shared how to changed the colour. I'd never have thought of that so now you've opened up so many more possibilities. Thank you Natasha x

You can also separate the amount of paste you’re going to use onto some plastic (I use packaging or ziplock bag) then mix in whatever color I want for a uniform look

I love that you always give options on how to make our own supplies instead of having to go out and buy special name brands that cost a lot more. I actually tried this recently with spackling paste. It worked but I used way too much of it. Thanks for the tips!

I Love your projects! But it is YOU! Your art - your choices. I watch several artists. Some of their choices are not me, but I watch them for the knowledge I get from the artist. I continue to watch their tutorials because I learn so much. You are so funny, but really - equal treatment for all species. You keep showcasing your art!!!!

Thank you! I am so inspired. I also realize I need to just creat and have items prepared ahead of time without a distinct or defendant plan for what project I am going to use it for. At times my projects take SO LONG because I’m creating all the components specific for that project. My rainy days (when I can’t be in the garden or out with the horses) will now have days of creating for future projects. I’d like to go right to the studio to get started but I do require sleep so it will wait a few days. Thanks again.

Yes, I feel very inspired indeed! Great tutorial! 🤩 I have some nice stencils but haven't had the courage to use them, especially with texture paste. Now I will give it a try for sure! Saw a tip, can't remember by who, to spray the back of the stencil with repositionable glue spray. Keeps it from moving and also avoids bleeding. Maybe worth a try? Thanks for sharing all those fun and useful ideas 🤗🕊️

i add color to my DIY texture paste by just putting enough of the product onto a small pallet and add the color to it then apply to my project, so I am mixing only a small amount of colored paste at a time. I also use mica powder instead of paint for coloring my paste. you can use other things to color pastes as well such as your ink pad reinkers for example.

Wow!! All the effects!! Just amazing!! There are no failures! Trials, yes. And really interesting results!! Thanks for mentioning the mask or subbing Cornstarch for the talc. After all the scary stuff found about talc in the 70s, I never even brought that stuff into the house. Always used cornstarch for our babies, or myself. Cornstarch is definitely the way to go. I wondered also about powdered clay, then you mentioned it! This all looks like fun!

Baking soda works too. Do NOT use baking powder! Ask me how I know… I don’t have time to watch the whole vid but you can also just colour to a tiny amount of your paste with the paint of your choice. Also adding embossing powder to the wet paste, letting it dry then heating works very well.

You can lay your stencil back down once it’s dry and go over it with gilding it adhesive and then add gilding sheets and whatever color choice is yours or if you lay your stencil back down, you can go over it with much easier than trying to paint freehand, but you have to wait till the modeling paste is dry Texture paste whichever you’re using

I, too, have been experimenting with texture paste & it didn't occur to me to add color directly on top during the initial process. Made a batch with corn starch but it did not turn out well. It was just a dry clump, so I had to basically add double the amount of paint and glue to make it look okay. But I also had baking soda so I tried a batch with that and it turned out SO MUCH better and with the ingredient amounts you mentioned. Of course I had to also try them out. The corn starch one didn't function very well despite how I tried to fix the consistency. It was harder to spread and the result was messy, even with a small and simple stencil. But the baking soda one was nice! It spread nice and even with no bleed and I even used a slightly more complex stencil and it looks lovely. So I might give up on the starch one, or maybe keep it for bigger textured surfaces (like the journal you showed, with the leathery look) and use the better baking soda paste for more detailed work with stencils. I'll have to see how they look completely dry, they're currently still a bit moist because of course I had to do all this while watching the video. In any case thank you for this, I now know what to do with all that baking powder (and maybe starch) just sitting in my cupboard since I rarely bake stuff that requires it.
