Mostly your chest line should be your guide for the slash. Mine is 9” inches but I only slashed through to about 8.75” because when turning out with your lining , you don’t want to exceed the chest line. Hence, the need for the 0.25 left from the chest line to turn it out. I hope this answers your question. 🙂
