Welcome to the 11th Excel Tutorial where I show you how to split cell data. Tutorial 10 showed you how to combine them, or concatenate data, today's tutorial covers the opposite. What do you do when you have a lot of data in one cell but you need to separate them?
This tutorial covers the basics of the text to columns tool in excel. Learn how to easily split cell data in this tutorial.

How do you split data if there are 2 characters in the same column / and \. If I highlighted the whole column it’s only worked for 1 (/ or\). Thanks

You'd have to do a second set of these steps in the new column. Unfortunately there's no easy way to have multiple custom delimiters, you can only set one custom at a time.

what do you do if the delimited is a "shift+return"

If by shift+return you mean a newline (it's normally alt+enter on PC) then you can achieve this by selecting "other" delimiter and then in the text box do "ctrl+j" If you're on mac maybe cmd+j? Try them all and see what works :) The ctrl+j is a quick shortcut that tells Excel to look for a newline when splitting data. Hope this helps!
