Hey y’all! It’s been a long time coming for another Men’s video but it’s here💙 I hope these videos are helping, let me know what other (natural men) videos y’all wanna see!
It takes at least 6-8 weeks for hair to lock, so you can wear for up to 4 weeks. After that, just wash throughly. To avoid tangling, use a detangling shampoo. If you put in gel and product the hair won't lock. Hair doesn't starting locking until it dries out, that's when the strands start to stick.
I literally twist every section on my son's hair my hand. I didn't know i could of just twist it. It took 5 hours on his thick long hair. Hair all over his head. Thank you, such a big help.
I’m so glad you find this helpful! Break the styling session up into chunks if you have to lol that’s what I have to do with my nephew who doesn’t like to sit through getting his hair done.
Thank you! ❤❤🎉❤❤ My husband of almost 30 years is Puerto Rican. Well, we’re having a midlife crisis together! 😂 I wanted to try this and other things on his thick locks. ❤ we’ve both had the same hair since high school!
Nice video! 👍🏻My son wants to do that in his hair, but oh my God I don't know how start, and someone wants to charge me 130$ every 4 to 6 weeks but seeing this video I want to try!🙂
Ok you said questions. You said leave it for 2 weeks. Like no shampoo, getting it wet? My son is adopted and is African American with tight curls. I am capable of doing the style. How do I protect it at night? And is there daily upkeep to keeping it looking fresh? So sorry white girl here. In my cosmetology school we only learned basics out of a text book. Never had practical application training. I actually can do a good fade. My son wants more style options!! So idiot proof tutorials on men and boys would be so amazing!! I’m learning so much from you!! Thank you!!
Good questions! At night he can put on a loosely tied do-wrag (so not to over smush the coils), or a bonnet. Or he can sleep freely on a silk pillow. Daily, there’s no upkeep really it’ll stay the same through the night and over the days (slightly frizzing over time). You are welcome to spritz it with water or a refresher if needed for moisture (keep in mind, spritzing water will frizz the style more quickly). Shampooing/wetting the hair under the shower will wash the coils out so try to avoid it over the time that you plan to keep the style in. Its alright to wash and restyle it earlier than the 2 week mark that’s mentioned, just try not to keep it in beyond the 2 weeks because it’ll get tougher to detangle the coils out the longer they’re in. Hope that answered your questions❤️ let me know if you have more! And thank you so much for your compliments☺️ I hope your son will love the style!
Thank you❤️ and they’ll hold just fine with out it ☺️ If you plan to loc though, a butter or gel is probably a better choice to ensure that the hair begins to loc and is not staying loose stranded.
@@bluechoppaclothing Yes I have 4c and it does it wonders. The more I do this style the more I see my natural curl patter mimic the finger coils. They also look great in a puff when they are getting old and you are just going to do a wash.
I love my coils, my problem is that after, I can't keep my damn hands out my hair. It's so satisfying to keep twirling my coils, stretching them and all that.
Thank you!!!’ I have been looking on how to maintain my hair now that is growing, can you give suggestion on night routine, I don’t know what I am doing and I feel my hair is constantly dry! 😢
I just got mines done today. My Afro was much shorter but comb coils came out nice. But I don’t want dreds more of nappy coilly Afro look. When my hair thicken will that look be achievable or do I need to do anything else?
@@MacD1127 you can separate the coils after a few days to give it some fluff/volume with a little bit of the coils still in tact, I’ll share a link of a time I did it.
Sis, thanks for this video.. So, can you recommend a few good shampoo's for men, what we should look for in shampoo's and what you used to wrap the brotha's head and/or where to purchase. Is it true that satin pillow sheets are good for our hair?
This style actually stays in until it’s washed and combed out. It’s often the first step of hair locking. (Which I caution if the intent is not to loc because the longer it stays in without being removed, the hairstyle will loc up)
if i did this to start my loc journey would i be able to get my hair retwisted by a loctician after or will I have to do it myself (since i started it on my own)
Yea, you can use two strand twists to start locs. Do you mean before retwisting for a fresh set of twist or to loc them? If it’s to retwist for locking, about 4 weeks is an average I think in the beginning
Flakes usually result when 1) the product itself is flaky, 2) the combination of products used disagree with one another, or 3) there’s product build-up (too much product topped on top of the hair strands over time) so you’ll have to decipher if the necessary fix is a change of products, applying less product, or a clarifying wash to remove product build up
your already got the curls then my man. if im not mistaken if u want em to pop just put some conditioner in them, detangle than shake it under shower water and your straight. i dont have curls, im 4c, but this is just what ive heard and seen
What would you say his hair type is ? I have a friend with hair like this who I’m trying to help a find a hair routine but I can’t pinpoint this hair type.
Until you wash them out. They start to lock if you don’t detanglebyoir hair after. If you want some curly hair tips I gotchu🔥 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Evq050qYIfU.html 🔥
Wash your hair with a durag on and rub the shampoo or conditioner on the durag. Once you get out the shower blow dry your hair on the lowest setting for a short time and then your coils will stay the same
@@TyJalayahRobertson Thanks for the reply, I've been using a curl sponge recently but hope to move onto this, however when I've tried twist it dosen't look as good a the sponge work. Is parting the hair neccesary because I've skipped this stage ?
This style and the sponge style are intended to give very different looks/results. This style is a loc hairstyle while the sponge is a curl/coil style. If you want to achieve a curly look, the sponge, wash and go, or twist out videos may give you more ideal results.
Also, this can be done on 3 in, you’d just have to really grip it and you’ll need to part for that length on this particular style so it’ll present as locs. Also, to re-answer your first question. “Will you lose the results after wearing a hat/beanie”, the answer is no. This style stays in until you wash and detangle it out. The longer you keep them in, they’ll begin to turn into permanent locs. I initially thought your question was posted under the sponge video so that’s why I accidentally said yeah at fist.
It can be super short to super long, as long as your finger can grip and twirl the section. It may be easier to do with a comb on extremely short lengths (like 1 inch)
No, it’s just a style so it won’t affect your hair growth in anyway way but to keep your hair healthy so that it does continue to grow longer (retain length), make sure to keep your hair properly cleansed and moisturized washing and deep conditioning on a consistent and regular schedule. Also, be super gentle whenever you detangle to avoid breaking the hair strands off. Detangling regularly (at least 1-2x a week) is another way to keep the hair in a healthy and manageable state so that it will retain length (reach longer lengths).
Good question! I think the pool would mess this style up 🤔 (I don’t believe I’ve tried it myself but I’m just thinking of how easily the shower water rinses it out). The coils might be in tact a little if you have a tighter coil pattern but the uniformity of the style will be messed up and would require a re-style. If you happen to try it though lol could you let me know how it goes for you. I would love to know and it would help us all to know forsure as well ❤️
Trey Brent yea. I fingercoil my hair regularly and i take a shower every day and also went to a pool once with this style. It actually looks even better if you went to a pool and let it air dry. I take them out or redo them every 4/5 days.
I can’t be sure, I know it’s a starter loc method but I’ve never gotten to do them for someone to keep them in as locs yet. I think to loc it, they might use gel or a loc/twist butter for the coiling process but don’t quote me on it 😬
