One time my laptop that i clicked to turn off and put in the bag, didn't actually turn off, it overheated in my bag and then some cable detached according to the repair guy who i watched open it up and just plugged in the cable. Now i have a other problem similar to yours, light is on but wont start. At first it used to take an hour to finally start. The clock was always very slow. Sometimes it would jump forward to an incorrect time. Now slower and slower until it wont turn on but the light is on. I guess i will buy a screw driver

Concept here is to by pass the battery, just like old days, take out the battery and run it on power. This condition often occur when ur laptop goes to hibernating

My laptop was stuck in sleep mode and I stuck a pin inside to hit the reset button and the laptop would not respond at all until I opened it up and disconnected the battery and now fully functional again! I called Lenovo customer service and they wanted me to bring the laptop to be seen by a technician and suggested I go to Best Buy. Thanks again for posting this video.

Some bios options on different lenovo models allow you to power it down from bios for repair, which may drain it all the way and then charge it back up passing sleep mode but this (disassembly) method worked perfectly on a new ideapad. This seems like a common issue even on new models from lenovo.

This is just basic repair... Reset or remove batery... You just need to hold power button about 10 seconds and laptop will turned on without Dissambly

My fix was inspired by this video: I disconnected the Lithium button battery (backup battery) on my X270 for 15 seconds and when i plugged it back in my laptop would then power on again! (Of course I had to reset the date/time) On the X270, I had to remove the "fake" internal battery to get to the backup lithium button battery. Thanks for making this video! (and the idea of using a credit card to pry open the laptop)

I had the same problem, but the internals of my device was different (different model). I wasn't able to detach the power cable because it will destroy the seal. What I did was detach the ram and attach it again. E voila! It worked! Thank you for this video still.

So I just came back from a long flight overseas and I made sure to turn off my laptop completely off. The power button works but the screen doesn’t turn on. I can hear the fan but after a couple seconds the fan will turn off but the power button is good

I have a Lenovo Idea Pad Slim, and the power button just blinks with a black screen. This happened after I accidentally powered off the unit in the middle of a Fresh Install of Windows 10. I tried disconnecting the battery, but It's still blinking when reconnected. I should at least be able to get the post screen, but nothing. Any thoughts? I am and experienced PC builder, but these cheap model Lenovos are a different beast apparently.

I tried this. I unplugged the battery, left it unplugged a moment, flashing power button stopped, but as soon as i plugged it back in, the flashing started again.

I am facing the same issue with my Lenovo Ideapad 100s the only thing that's different is it's not the power switch thats kept on flashing its battery. I hope this can be helped with that technique of yours.

hello, i have a lenovo ideapad 3 and it wont turn on. when i press the start button the button lights up but the fan wont spin. when i connect the charger the charging light is on but still nothing on the fan. i removed the battery put it back on, pressed the start button again just the lights. redid the whole process without the battery and just the charging cable again only lights but flashing this time. i cant access bios. i tried to reset bios with the reset novo button again only light. is there anything else to try?

Any other suggestions when that does not work? My light is still flashing and the laptop will not power on. I have tried with the battery in and out, with power supply and without.

Didn’t work for me. I have a thinkpad T420 with the exact same problem, tried to remove the battery (external) and put it back in, perhaps I have to disconnect it from the MoBo?

It was just so odd to me that I was using my laptop one day with absolutely no bugs or problems when suddenly it wouldn't boot up. Unplugging the battery & holding down the power button (saw in another video) fixed my laptop like magic. I"m still not 100% sure what on earth the problem was but it turned on & it's working! It even opened up to the game I was in when I last used it lol Thank you so much for this video! :)

If you unplug the charger for a few days , the battery will die out then recharge and then it will turn on back to normal

I have a Yogo 2 Pro, from about 2014, it was working when I last used it, but when I tried to power it up after not using it for a couple of months, it just flashes the keyboard backlight, as well as the light on the power button. This happened to my ThinkPad E480 after an improper shut down. Fortunately I didn't have to disassembly. I just held down the power button a couple of times and then waited for about 3 minutes (not pressing anything, some lights on). A fan started hissing and I could power off and restart again.

Hi there. I have a Lenovo x230, got it 6 months ago, almost new. Used as second laptop. Yesterday it did not start on. Power button lights on, green color, the keyboard and the webcam lights on, also the speaker and microphone buttons (orange color) and the icons of the wifi and CPU on the lower screen bezel lights on when I push the power button. Then all go off except for the power button. The only thing that does not lights on is the finger print sensor, which blinks always in green color. No noise at all, no beeps, just the vibrations of the CPU (HDD) when touching the PC underneath. After a couple of minutes, it feels a little hot underneath, where the CPU units go. What I have done to check it: 1. Power button test, pressing it for 1 minute while no battery o power cord connected. 2. Remove of the CMOS 3. Remove of the RAM sticks and replaced by similar from a running PC. 4. Tried booting without CMOS 5. Tried booting without RAM 6. Tried booting without CPU 7. Tried booting without KEYBOARD 8. Tried booting without PALMREST 9. Left overnight without battery and power cord. 10. Tested the CMOS with a multimeter, resulting in 3V reading. I refuse to think the motherboard is toasted, so I hope someone might have some experience in what could be the fault. Things to look out: the finger print scanner and the fact that the CPU get warm (while the power button shows on), as in a regular PC when working. Also, the fact that the computer behavior at starting attempts with and without CMOS battery is the same. Provably the BIOS chip? Note that I have not tampered with this PC at all. I bought it from a Lady that almost never used, she got it as a payment, and stored it. Since I have a T440P as daily use, I did not start use the X230 much, which is stock in hard drive, RAM (4) and everything else, so it is very slow. I removed the battery on a Lenovo thinkpad X1 carbon. But it only works for a few minutes. Then it will at some point shutdown and end up in that state again with blinking lights. Only happened when I walked away. Once at windows login screen. Once at Ubuntu live CD loading screen.

I have a Flex 3 1130. I saw this on your website as well, but this solution didn't solve it. Disconnected both the main and CMOS batteries, and still it acts this way, and Lenovo support has been useless. So, thank you for your effort and I hope it helps others who have this problem.

i would have just used the hard reset button on the back with a paper clip, waaaay easier than cracking in to the laptop this whole tearing apart was unnessasary unless you wanted to replace the battery and spray some air on fan imho.

Did you try the 'reset' button prior to opening up the laptop? I ask because it is supposed to disconnect the battery from the device (w/o opening a new ice up and physically unplugging the battery)

My flex 3 will not charge its battery. I have the same symptoms. I removed the battery and it booted up. It doesn't do it reliably and I need to try it many times to get a proper startup. My guess is I have additional issues. I'm at a point where I just need one last startup to remove files.
