These easy fluid painting nails are adapted from the traditional canvas technique that uses acrylic paint, fluid medium, and isopropyl alcohol. These particular colors remind me of slate or granite slabs!

Thank you so much! I'm far from being the nail queen, though. :)

Just watched your other video about my favorite brand of polish used in this type of nail art, sadly I can't find the hypnotic transformation top coat anywhere. You are amazing! So talented, I'm subscribing today. I appreciate your explanation of the steps you take, listing the items needed, the brands/names of colors & other useful links. I find your style truly inspiring! Thank you ever so much!!! Added a very long comment in a question thread below about the medium you used, sorry I tend to ramble.

Thank you so much! I replied to your other comments - sorry it took me so long, for some reason RU-vid didn't send me a notification about your comments, and I only just saw them now when I was scrolling through.

No no it's fine, I probably commented on each one thinking what I don't know. But thanks for replying! I'll try your different techniques, thanks so much for helping!!!

do you think it's possible instead of pouring it over your nails, to just pour it on the mat to make decals from? I'd love to See you attempt it...

I'm sure it is possible to just pour it onto the mat and make decals, but I think it would take a lot longer to dry since the paint would just be pooling on the mat. But if you could get the paint thin enough, it could probably work, although the decals would be more fragile than the fluid painting decals everyone has been making with polish. In my opinion, it's just a lot easier to pour the paint directly over your nails, but I'll give the decals a shot next time. :)

Ok, this is VERY interesting!!!! Oh....the possibilities!!!! My creative mind is going crazy.... I'll never be able to sleep tonight. I definitely should have waited until the morning to watch this one. This is what I love about your channel...I see things here that I've never seen before, instead of the same things over & over that all the other nail aritist do. YOU ARE SO ORIGINAL! Can I make one suggestion / request???.......I would love it if you would talk or do voice overs. I personally find it very hard to pay attention to a video when the person isn't talking to me. Most of the time, when I come across a nail channel that the videos don't have verbal instructions, I only watch a few of their videos & I don't subscribe. However, your work is so great that I made an exception! 😀 I just think that more people would watch your wonderful videos if you talked...just my opinion. Thanks for the great ideas & beautiful artwork! 😘😍

Thank you! I'm really glad that you like this design! I've seen a lot of nail artists doing fluid painting nails lately, but most of them have been making decals with nail polish, and I thought it would be a lot easier to just pour acrylic paint over my nails. :) And thank you for your suggestion! I don't currently have a microphone to do voice overs, but it's something I'm working on, so hopefully it'll be something that I'll be starting soon.

Im on the Michaels website (under the assumption thats where you get the "medium" )and it appears they have it already mixed with acrylic paints what exactly do I ask for at the store? I do have like 12 acrylic paint colors already -this looks awesome cant wait to try. Just did the Sinful Colors transforming top coat effect which appears to be this on a bottle now that Ive watched this haha. This is so dope. OK done talking now look forward to hearing back!

Hi! The medium that I add to the paints is Liquitex Glazing Medium (you can also look for products that say they're pouring mediums or fluid mediums), and you can buy it at Michaels, Walmart, and other stores that sell paint. They do also sell fluid acrylics that have the medium mixed into them, but it's a lot more cost effective to just buy the clear medium and add it to your existing paints. And this effect is very similar to the Sinful Colors transforming topcoats! :)

This is absolutely beautiful! I have a couple of questions if you don't mind. I tried doing this but I used floetrol (not sure if you're familiar with it), and when I poured the alcohol into it after combining it with the paint it got thick and chunky. I can't seem to find Liquitex in my small town in Canada. Do you think I could use Elmer's Glueall? Or maybe Mod Podge instead? Also, how long did it take for the paint to dry on your nails?
@NailBlitz
@NailBlitz 6 лет назад
Thanks! It's so weird that the paint thickened after you added the alcohol. From what I've read, the floetrol should have worked and is frequently used for fluid painting, so I'm not sure what went wrong. What did the paint look like before you added the alcohol? If it looked fine, then it might be that there was something wrong with the alcohol itself. Glue-all and Mod Podge wouldn't work, since the purpose of the medium is to just thin down the acrylics so they can flow better. You might be able to try using a paint thinner or clear gloss acrylic paint instead, but I haven't tried either so I can't guarantee it. You could also try water, although you'll have to be careful not to add too much, or it'll cause the acrylics to start breaking down. And the paint dried in only a few minutes on my nails, but I waited a bit to topcoat it to prevent smearing.

Hanni Baloo thanks for asking this question +nailblitz thanks for answering as I'm not familiar with acrylics & this will help once i begin making purchases so i can attempt this wondrous creation of art! My daughter is extremely artistic at 9yo & saw this, she wanted to try it out not only on her nails, but on a canvas of sorts too. Have you tried this out on any other format other than nail art? Would it work, say on a canvas, plain white cheap boat shoes, or any other platform? Quite liked my daughter's suggestion of trying this out on the plain white but beautifully crafted dresser & I think this will look amazing on it! You've blown my mind on the endless possibilities of colors & uses with this! Just watched your other video on using the Sinful colors hypnotic transformation top coat, which I cannot find anywhere & I missed my chance, so I'm grateful you made this tutorial, will definitely be attempting it once we begin investing in acrylics! Of course if we succeed, we'll be tagging you most likely on Instagram. Sorry for the very long comment, I'm just extremely excited to try this out!!!!! I'm going to explore "how to's" with regular nail polish too, as that's what I'm limited to, unfortunately we're not able to build up our supplies, but they're on the must have eventually lists! Thanks again! Have a great day!

This absolutely works on canvas - that's actually the typical medium for this, and a bunch of nail artists have started adapting it for nail art because it looks so cool. :) You might want to look up some fluid artists on RU-vid, if you haven't already, because there are a lot of different ways to do this kind of fluid art to get different results (I know the most common is using a blowtorch, which you obviously wouldn't want to use on your nails and might not be the best method for a 9yo, but I've also seen people use silicone oil, and there's even a newer method where you swipe a wet paper towel over the paint to create the cells). I also paint canvas shoes, but I haven't tried this technique with them...it might work, but since the surface won't be flat, the paint might just continue running down and ruining the design - you could always try it, though! If you're planning on doing a larger scale project, you could also just invest in fluid acrylics (they already have the medium added to them), or you could just buy regular acrylics and the fluid medium to mix yourself. And of course I'd love to see whatever you and your daughter end up creating! :)

Tfs. This design is amazing! Can you still do this if you don't have medium?
@NailBlitz
@NailBlitz 7 лет назад
Thank you! The idea of this is to use really thin acrylics. If you don't have the medium, I think you could try mixing the acrylic paint with water, but you have to be careful not too add too much water, or it will dilute the paint and break down the binders and it won't stick properly to your nails.
